Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Channel 4's Matt Frei speaks with Chris Eubank and Chris Eubank Jr about the Nick Blackwell fight.
Some truly shocking questions notably the final one to Eubank Jr, 'If you had the choice, would you prefer Nick Blackwell in full health, or the belt.'
Link to the interview is below.

I'm surprised they didn't lamp him one!
What an absolute arse.

Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Shocking interview. Guy should never be given the opportunity to interview anyone again.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
That is a very very poor interview.questions were well out of order but Eubank is defo making the most of this..
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Just beyond belief this. The problem is that with the main TV channels you get interviewers talking about subjects they have absolutely no knowledge of whatsoever and that's where completely inappropriate and insensitive questions are asked.

Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
What an absolute b*llend. Totally unrealistic thing to say, as well as mean spirited. I thought Eubank Snr was very eloquent in his reply.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
div. who ever does it think he is and why would you ask that question
channel 4 should put him going and he should never be aloud to interview nobody ever again
respect to the eubanks for how they handled that fool

Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Disgusting! What kind of person do you have to be, to think up those questions?
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
This is about the parasitic Media jumping on the ban boxing band wagon, whenever a boxer gets badly hurt, not one word from the interviewer about Nick Blackwell's bravery or any empathy for him, just a set of questions to attack the Eubanks or the boxing industry.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Mean spirited sounds exactly the right phrase and Eubank Snr is 99pc of the time eloquent, if he sometimes goes round the houses to get there.big lennox wrote:What an absolute b*llend. Totally unrealistic thing to say, as well as mean spirited. I thought Eubank Snr was very eloquent in his reply.
I aint watching this tho, the common consensus is enough...it sounds...unbelievable frankly!
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Forget about dealing with this interview in isolation, C4 news has long been the outlet with, IMO, the most poisonous agenda of the lot in this country, and that's saying something. Just because Jon Snow wears a tie and looks like a friendly uncle, don't think he's not a snake.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
However, it does blow apart the stories about the huge compassion and Eubank Snr saving his life with the instructions. He saw no need to continue to hit the head as he was winning and he also clearly states that also because Blackwell was absorbing the head shots, so the next tactic is to take the body.
I salute the Eubanks as they are not being their usual wanker-esq selves over this and talking like normal people rather in that convoluted and forked tongue way which is their norm. But this interview must surely end the argument on the other thread floating around here.

Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
I never saw it live but I saw Eubank’s comments in a video posted on social media and he was unequivocally in a dilemma. Even said to his son “I don’t know what to say to you.....” “Why isn’t the referee stopping it?”....and I’m sure he said summat along the lines of lay off his head or he’s going to get hurt.... Something very much along those lines.tobyh5 wrote:However, it does blow apart the stories about the huge compassion and Eubank Snr saving his life with the instructions. With his experience, I think Chris knew exactly what he was watching - a systematic, life altering beatdown. Pity that in this regard he was several steps ahead of various others who were charged with looking after Blackwell.
To turn this back on Eubank as some cynical piece of spin is quite unjust, I think.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Sorry mate, that is not what he said. He said he did not know why it was being stopped and it should be and that Blackwell could get hurt. But he never said lay off the head, he said that he would not stop him with a head shot, but would with a body shot.magwitch wrote:I never saw it live but I saw Eubank’s comments in a video posted on social media and he was unequivocally in a dilemma. Christ sake, watch the bloody interview above, he explains it and ends the fecking debate.
I am not turning this back on him as some cynical spin, the truth is the truth man, it is what it is. How that makes people look is how it makes them look in truth and reality

Not seen your link at time of writing but several commenters on the fb video seemed to think the same as me. I’ll look at it again....tobyh5 wrote:Sorry mate, that is not what he said. If what I think was said was said then that is praiseworthy because to put it bluntly it’s a fight and either man can get KO’d in a sinch....and Eubank will know that as well as anyone alive. So truly a difficult position for him.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Yeah I've been trying to find full fight footage so I can see it all back again. But from my reading, I think Eubank looked torn. He wanted to give practical advice to his son, yet he also seemed concerned about Blackwell. I have absolutely no doubt had Eubank been in Blackwell's corner he would have pulled him out (and I don't mean that as a dig a Lockett).magwitch wrote:I never saw it live but I saw Eubank’s comments in a video posted on social media and he was unequivocally in a dilemma. Thats as may be. But the advice given was tactical and strategic and he himself has said exactly that. It is not even open to interpretation, they have explained it. Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
I like Gary Lockett (never met him but seen him on tv in his gym). I doubt you’ll find anyone in boxing who doesn’t.Dixonian wrote:Yeah I've been trying to find full fight footage so I can see it all back again. But from my reading, I think Eubank looked torn. How long has he been a second tho? I’m sure that he would never knowingly do anything (or not do something) that would perjudicate one of his fighters - or, let them try something he wouldn’t try himself.
I know there was a belt at stake but Loughlin is in there too and a lad a has been retired before in very similar circumstances in a fight that Loughlin has not stopped.
Side note, Lockett must have been one of the last decent names on Kelly Pavlik’s record. Another 18 months down the line and Pavlik was on the lash full time I think.
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Apart from the final question, I thought the interview was alright. They were there to talk about and he asked questions. What was insensitive about it (outside of the final question)?
Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
I found it quite confrontational and tinged with a sense of unjustified knowing arrogance. I agreed with Eubank Snr when he asked what the guy was actually trying to get out of the interview as I wasn't sure myself.tobyh5 wrote:Apart from the final question, I thought the interview was alright. Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
the man was fishing for reactions the whole interview and the way the eubanks handled it was good interview was a div nothing more nothing less and very insensitive to the whole situation
as said above, a very ignorant man

Re: Disgusting Channel 4 interview
Matt Frei has always been a total tosser/media diva of the first order and is the king of the insensitive question ....thinks he his Paxman but is just a lame, attention-seeking provacteur like Jeremy Kyle....no wonder Channel 4 News are opting to work the elderly Jon Snow into the ground!
Saw him last week and he tried to put a Syrian academic who looks after the country's antiquities 'on the spot' by suddenly turning the interview away from a discussion about Palmyra and asking about his views about the evils of the Assad regime.
The poor guy is broadcasting from Damascus, he is not a politician, probably has a family, he has come on in good faith to discuss saving stuff he loves....and you suddenly ask him a totally loaded question like that which could completely feck-up his entire life and threaten his safety?
Completely irresponsible and arrogant, shite 'journalism'
