I'm not sure if Briggs is even a C+ level guy anymore, but just for the buildup I would've preferred him to Gjergjaj, who struggled significantly with fighters like Bakhtov and Adnan Redzovic.

The Hayemaker is out to ruin those padded records.

Briggs sounded like a man with serious mental problems.

He's not a dangerous boxer at all.

Gjergjaj's record looks good on paper, but a closer look reveals he has no notable wins.

Exactly, Gjergjaj is basically a higher ranked Fabio Maldonado.

yup, this is a bad matchup

whatever he looks like on paper as you can see by doing a bit of digging you can see the man hasn't done anything to write home about

Funny. I hope Gjergjaj never makes it. It was hard enough learning how to spell Pacquiao.

This fight is disappointing. These matchups for haye are so many steps back from where he was that it can't be helpful preparation for anything other than retirement.

I would have been absolutely amazed if Briggs hadn't turned up, and I think Haye vs Briggs will probably be next.

Agreed. Just an American clown. America has not had a HW champ in 20 years. Why isn't he trying to fight KING KONG? Or Jennings? That would not be a bad fight actually. jennings needs a bounce back.

very funny. it just occurred to me that

Briggs is an American and he is a clown, so that's a fair assessment. I also agree that America has not had a HW Champion in about 20 years.

The Heavyweights have been dominated by two men with the same Mother. No other Eastern European Heavyweight has done much of anything.

But what now? Wilder and Martin beat Spilka and Glaskov. The upcoming fights between Wilder and Povetkin and Martin and Joshua should tell us a lot about where we're heading. My picks are Joshua and Wilder, but we'll see.

Fair assessment by you. I am picking Joshua and i still say Wilder never actually fights Potvetkin.

Shannon hasn't beat a top 70 opponent since 2007, but he acts like he has no clue why top tier fighters aren't giving him a chance. Beat someone in the top 50, then you'll be taken halfway seriously.

Vitali fought him and shut him out. Then he kept trying to get Wlad to fight him. He is just an American weirdo.

Lol, if you knew more about Polish names you would laugh at yourself so hard now XD!

And the guy isn't even Polish.

Not to mention beat him nearly to death. The guy spent weeks in Intensive care following his bout with Vitali. I'll just about guarantee the next time he's in a big money fight he'll go for the KO in the first, and then after that he'll be looking for a soft spot on the canvas the first time he gets touched with something significant. The guy knows he's no Champion anymore. Those days are long past. He just wants a payday.

Hell he was pretty damn beatable even in his prime.

Look at his 2 "Title" wins. He won the Lineal Championship against a very old George Foreman, and virtually nobody believes he deserved that decision.

His other title, he fought an extremely dull fight with Sergei Liakhovich, then finally managed to knock him out in the 12th...at which point he had to sit on his stool for a full 5 or more minutes catching his breath before he could manage to say "I'm back baby"

So even his biggest wins of his career aren't all that impressive, and the Liakhovich win was almost a decade ago. The Foreman win was almost 20 years ago.

He knows he can't beat anyone in the Top 50. Talking his way into a title shot is his only hope.

Briggs is ranked higher as Haye for a reason, I wouldn't be surprised if Briggs could win against Malik Scott, Stiverne, or Tony Thompson

All 3 could and would beat Briggs. Briggs is far past shot.

Holyfield could come out of retirement and embarass Briggs.

Briggs wouldn't fight Tony Thompson. He wouldn't fight anybody that could possibly beat him. He'll keep fighting bottom of the barrel guys until he gets a big money payday.

Eddie Hearn wants him to prove himself before he gets a big fight. He clearly doesn't want to do that. If he fights someone like Dereck Chisora he'll lose every round.

Doesn't take much to fool fans I see. Talk loud, and act like a jackass, and people will think you're legit these days I guess.
