Alvarez
Pascal
Braehmer
Chilemba
Cleverly
Shabranskyy
Mekhontsev
Gvozdyk
Gonzalez
somebody else ?

Almost any of those would be a solid choice.ikorolev wrote:Who do you want him to fight and who could he realistically fight till the end of June:

Jean Pascal has taken enough punishment here lately. I just want to see that guy take some time off for a while. He's been taking really heavy punishment in all of his recent fights.
Re: Ward's possible tuneup
How pathetic that ward who claims to be the best boxer in the world is taking another tuneup. He is just a coward and a liar. He does not want Kovalev at all. i have already said that the fight will not happen. He and canelo are both scared and useless. Only suckers like either of them.
Re: Ward's possible tuneup
RJJ, Abel Sanchez and a few others say that Ward is not ready for Kovalev yet.

I remember when Vitali came back at age 37 after 4 years of inactivity and didn't need a tune up.
Ward is boxing's equivalent of a pampered child.

Re: Ward's possible tuneup
I thought Barrera was the tune up...
I'm guessing he fights another guy not even in the top 20 and then moves up a division to avoid Kovalev. At Cruiserweight he'll probably fight Bellew and Cleverly or someone around that level and then move up a division to avoid Usyk.

Re: Ward's possible tuneup
Alvarez - good option but wont fight Ward
Pascal - shot fighter
Braehmer - good option but wont fight Ward
Chilemba - lost his last, terrible fight
Cleverly - lost his last. Lost to Kova
Shabranskyy - the best option
Mekhontsev - too early
Gvozdyk - too early
Gonzalez - lost his last two
Sean Monaghan - is he any good?

Re: Ward's possible tuneup
I take it the same people bagging Ward for another "tune up" fight are also bagging Haye for his selection of opponents for his first two comeback fights? No, I guess not.
Barrera is a good fighter, just got made to look real average. If ward selects someone else of that calibre it's fine with me. Then hopefully he steps up and fights Kov.

Why bring David Haye into it?amwsnw wrote:I take it the same people bagging Ward for another "tune up" fight are also bagging Haye for his selection of opponents for his first two comeback fights? No, I guess not.

Haye is getting plent of flak for his opponent selection during his comeback retirement tour.
