His name is also something you might hear emanating from someone as they were punched in the throat.

LOL, I've seen some awful attempts at pronouncing it. "Jur-Jar" gets you very close to being correct.

Agreed.

I'm not bothered what Haye does, but it's his lack of honesty that annoys me.

If he came out & said he was intending to knock over a string of daffodils on a retirement tour until he can blag a title shot later in the year or 2017, I could live with that, but it's the fact that he's talked about being serious & wanting big opponents, then selects guys like these & tries to justify his latest selection by saying he is undefeated! :oo

That's just pathetic from him & he's making himself a laughing stock.

Hopefully this is the last glorified sparring session he can put on in the O2 & he will now be forced to fight someone with a pulse, because the public & the TV companies are not going to continue swallowing this BS.

He might as well fight Jar-Jar Binks...

As an aside, how much do you think 10% of the ticket sales will be that he's donating to Blackwell?

Let's not kid ourselves here guys, although donating 10% of ticket sales is a very noble gesture, it is not without it's own agenda. If he was only concerned with Blackwell's well being, he would have donated it on the quiet. Instead he's using it to raise his profile, try but more bums on seats, and negate the fact he has lined himself up with a total paper bag.

He obviously has a decent PR manager. Reminds me of when Beckham was at PSG...

I agree. Haye and his team are extremely slick at PR. He mixes in celebrity circles, and has a big non-'boxing' fan club. Good luck to him. Even thought GjjjjjjeoJjjjjjjjev or whatever his name is, is a lamb to slaughter..... It will be a commercial success. And plenty will buy it.....

We know this fight is horrid and cynical, but we are a minority of freaks who for inexplicable reasons continue to closely follow this increasingly crooked sport.

The casual, celeb-gawking sports mob who comprise Haye's large audience are going to see their man decimate a ranked 29-0 heavyweight in 1 round, and that's all that matters.

Very soon Hearn will be unable to silence the sheepish bleating for a Haye/Joshua mega bout, and everyone gets rich(er). Except those who pay to watch it.

Yes, I'm afraid you are right - 'Are you not entertained..' well, me not really, but it appears there are those that are.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Joshua loses to Martin. It's not beyond the realms of possibility.

That much is obvious. As I said earlier though, if Haye's gesture increases ticket sales, that's a win for him and a win for Nick given that it's a percentage offer. It'll als maintain awareness of Nick's plight for longer too. Most people will be onto the next thing by May otherwise.

I, like many others, am only too well aware of Haye's talent for self-promotion and spin; I was simply curious what people thought 10% might amount to...

Im not sure of the capacity of the 02...20k say?? Average ticket 50 quid or so, thats 1 million potentially in ticket sales, so 100k...very rough estimate but that ball park is feasible.

Been a big supporter of Haye over the years but found myself now hoping that Gjergjaj is a HW Breidis Prescott. He's not, I know. But I hope he can do something to at least burst the Haye illusion and make him work for it again.

It's so sad, as this kid genuinely had the stuff to be a top top fighter, challenging abroad in difficult places against decent fighters for world titles at CW. I don't think he's chinny like most people thought, and he's clearly a massive puncher and natural fighter.

I understood the business sense route to a title pre-retirement, but it's beyond that now and is just ripping people off and lying about the quality of his oppo.

I'm in a similar position. I think it'd be different if he was getting some tough bt limited guys to outbox and get a bit of a public spar, but just getting guys with inflated records to ruin is pretty sad. BUt I think the main reason is it's a very easy way to get up the ranking since this guy has a weirdly high ranking. Haye's heavyweight resume is pretty weak in general too for how people speak about him,
