That's what I thought. A few years ago there was massive violence at York Hall for I think Junior Abas. I spoke to a very respected guy in boxing who was there, and he said he saw some insane stuff including outside with people getting deliberately run over and also stomped on when unconscious.

The police came to a camp in Doncaster with cadavar dogs to search for the skull that had been stolen, they didn't find it but got a couple of machine guns and ammo.

The reason for the cancellation has not been revealed however it appears to be some safety/security concern.

If that is the case then surely it would be preferable to warn the individuals affected rather than cancelling a national competition?

If the threat is more general then what are tha ABA saying, although we can arrange security for the Royal Family, the Pope and POTUS etc. they can't cover the security on an event attended by a few hundred people?

What is going on and what precedent does this set?

I agree entirely with the last post.It is the responsibility of the police, armed with their intelligence, to 'police' the event appropriately, even if that means armed officers being deployed. To not do so sets a precedent, and allows the nut jobs to destroy other people's way of life. Portsmouth are playing Carlisle this weekend. If the local police had similar intelligence would this match postponed?
Speaking as someone with a background in this sort of thing , I can see only 2 reasons for the decision. Firstly , inexperience or cowardice on behalf of the officer making the decision, or purely financial ie the extra cost in overtime of drafting officers in for a relatively minor event ( in their minds) with the organisers unable to meet this additional fee.

Disgusting that the money couldn't be found from some pot somewhere to foot the bill for the extra policing needed for this. Lads and coaches spending years getting ready for these championships and it's taken away from them like this.

Can't the authorities just say to the "feuding" parties that they can have their fun away from civilised people in a field somewhere and hurt, maim and kill each other at will as long as they deal with the wounded/dead afterwards? Problem solved!

Perhaps you're right but perhaps there should be more of an onus on people to ostracise these feuding families completely until they sort themselves out. There's a cult following of these folk despite the fact they're nothing but a headache. Those fanning the flames are as much to blame and I don't blame the organisers of the event if they've opted to cancel on the advice of the authorities. Last thing anybody (sane) wants is for innocents to be caught up in a violent dispute.

I'm assuming the rival parties would be there following certain fighters as opposed to just turning up there to have a row?
I can't bring myself to suggest banning the fighters in question because that's completely unfair on the fighter but it would make sense in a way.

Surely both of these families participants in the tournament won't be happy. Can they not agree a ceasefire for the week for the greater good?

No one wins these wars. Small victories of revenge maybe bring a moment joy, but ultimately, people die, and the rest either end up doing time, or live a very paranoid existence.

I think it shows just how far these families have come from the concept of a fair match, they put so much emphasis on being the best that they daren't really have a fair fight, a scrap has to be surrounded by intimidation and people ready to jump in the second their man begins to lose.
