Whatever happened to Irish boxer Andy Murray?

Post by johnswan1 »

I remember he was very highly thought of and was fighting regularly until losing a fairly close UD to Gavin Rees in a European title fight in 2011. After that he took more than a year off before returning with a stoppage win in 2012, but never fought again after that and finished with a 25-1 (13 KO's) record. He was only 28 when he fought Rees and Rees was still a decent operator at the time.

I remember watching him in Belfast years ago. Was McCloskey v Lauri for the European title. Was there to watch Frampton and a couple Paisley guys were on the bill too. Tidy boxer. I remember the Rees fight. I thought Rees won well. Not sure what happened to him though. Injury maybe?
