Ortiz? What's he done to make himself No. 1? Surely it's Fury or maybe Wilder.

Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
Usyk and Spence haven't defeated anybody to be #1. They have a good potential though.
Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
Hate to say it but the undisputable #1 & #2 in the HW division are Fury then Wlad. You can't deny that.
Kovalev is clearly #1. Ward has moved into his division. Up to him and Stevenson to knock him off.
Golovkin and Gonzalez are the top 2 p4p in the sport and have been for a while so they are far and away kings of thier divisions.
Pacquiao/Bradley winner is welterweight #1, few up and comers but Pac or Brad are the fighters they need to beat.
Rigondeaux needs to fight. I'll give him #1 but Frampton is knocking on the door.

why should i pick lebedev or drozd over usyk, when i think usyk beats them both, he is the #1 because i would favour over anybody at cw?
same for spence. who would you put at #1 ww right now, a past prime pacquiao, a weak midget like timmy?
Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
I always enjoy someone basing their rankings on who they IMAGINE a fighter would beat rather than who a fighter has actually beaten. It almost removes the need for fighters to box each other at all.Chepppaaa wrote:ikorolev wrote:Usyk and Spence haven't defeated anybody to be #1. They have a good potential though.

Which is pretty much what you have to do in boxing these days since less and less guys want to fight each other.Taki... wrote:I always enjoy someone basing their rankings on who they IMAGINE a fighter would beat rather than who a fighter has actually beaten. Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
Sad to say, despite having been a boxing fan for 40 years, I don't know who the best is in many divisions. Too little exposure, too many belts.
Fury is the man.
Cruiserweight - f knowns right now.
Kovalev without doubt, the ward fight will cement who the man is.
Golovkin
Jr middleweight - god knows.
Floyd, - he hasn't really retired.

Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
Mine has ended up fairly similar to Gilgamesh's. Like the OP I'll try to ignore "lineage" and just go for the guy I think is the best, based on available evidence.
Tyson Fury - Heavyweight (think he beats Wilder and Ortiz (and at least for the moment, AJ))
[vacant] - Cruiserweight (Glowacki didn't look outstanding vs. Huck, Lebedev hasn't fully shaken the GJones stink off yet, Usyk is unproven)
Kovalev - Light Heavyweight
DeGale - Super Middleweight (underrated talent, much better than Abraham, does switch off in fights sometimes)
Golovkin - Middleweight
Lara - Jr. Middleweight
Brook - Welterweight (think he is better than Thurman and Garcia. Pacquiao is all but done. Spence super-unproven)
Crawford - Jr. Welterweight
[vacant] - Lightweight (wanna see some fights between Linares, Zlaticanin, Barthelemy and Flanagan before committing)
Takashi Uchiyama - Jr. Lightweight
Lomachenko - Featherweight
Rigo - Jr. Featherweight
Yamanaka - Bantamweight
Naoya Inoue - Jr. Bantamweight
Chocolatito - Flyweight
Donnie Nietes - Jr. Flyweight
Knockout CP Freshmart - Strawweight (have seen a few of his fights. Will have to check out Menayothin tomorrow and possibly edit this)

Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
For the record I don't think Tyson Fury is the most talented Heavyweight right now, and I think at least 2 or 3 of the Top 10 could beat him, but nobody has a bigger win than his win over Wlad so I have no choice but to give him the #1 spot for now.HyacinthusTurnipseed wrote:Mine has ended up fairly similar to Gilgamesh's. Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
Fury-Heavyweight (Easy anyone having different is completely WRONG!)
Lebedev-Cruiserweight (Drozd hasn't done anything lately)
Kovalev-Light Heavyweight (Easily, he's P4P higher than Stevenson and owns 3 of the 4 belts)
DeGale-Super Middleweight (Arguable because Jack and Abraham also have been racking up good wins, mainly Jack, though)
Golovkin-Middleweight
Lara-Super Middleweight
Pacquiao-Welterweight (Easily, he's the number 1 in the division)
Postol-Light Welterweight (Has the best resume in the division KO Matthysse)
Linares-Lightweight (Open division between Linares, Barthelemy, and Zlaticanin this one is very hard)
Uchiyama-Super Featherweight
Lomachenko-Featherweight
Rigondeaux-Super Bantamweight (Anyone else is wrong!)
Yamanaka-Bantamweight (Robbed Moreno, though, if not for that it would be Moreno)
Inoue-Super Flyweight
Gonzalez-Flyweight
Nietes-Light Flyweight
Menayothin-Strawweight
Lebedev-Cruiserweight (Drozd hasn't done anything lately)
Kovalev-Light Heavyweight (Easily, he's P4P higher than Stevenson and owns 3 of the 4 belts)
DeGale-Super Middleweight (Arguable because Jack and Abraham also have been racking up good wins, mainly Jack, though)

Re: Who's the #1 in every division?
Just 3 matches from any list above within reasonable weight differences would be good.
