Stander is now 71 , he took a lot of shots in his career and had around 20 loses

Retired in 1982. I think there is documentary made about him

Just looked up Standers record , he got KO'd 9 times ,

Norton and Frazier absolutely brutalised him but neither had him over.

Look at his face once it was stitched up after Frazier. He looks like he was in a car crash and went through the windscreen. He looks like he had around 250 stitches. His wife said of the fight - you wouldn't enter a Volkswagen into the Indy 500 - which about sums up the fight.

Stander had a broken rib when he fought Roy shaw

In roy Shaws book he admitted that stander would of battered him other wise , very honest of Roy to say admit this

even so Roy did put stander down via body shots

It's strange , stander gave Ernie shavers a pasting but never had the same respect

Shavers did have the better career.

The very first fight that I can remember seeing was Stander-Norton; it was on the Ali-Young undercard.
