Dr Mark Bonar has made the claims
A DOCTOR last night claimed he prescribed banned performance-enhancing drugs to 150 sports stars – including several English Premier League footballers.
Dr Mark Bonar alleges his “clients” include an England cricketer, British Tour de France cyclists, a British boxing champion, tennis players and martial arts competitors as well as footballers.
He says he has treated more than 150 sportsmen from the UK and abroad with banned substances such as erythropoietin, steroids and human growth hormones.
He alleges improvements in performances were “phenomenal”.
Bonar’s claims were published in the Sunday Times and may cast a further shadow on the sporting world ahead of the Rio Olympics in August.

To be fair, the Times were at pains to point out they have no other evidence than this doctors words. They didn't show the video of him saying these things but did show him selling drugs to the Times' athlete.

Why? He's prescribed a treatment plan to an athlete. The drugs in question are not illegal, they are seen as performance enhancing so banned by wada.Starboxer wrote:This doctor should be sent to prison he is a criminal
I'm sure we've all taken things with banned substances in. Cough and cold medicines have them in, just ask Alan baxter

I saw this too. No real surprise. A lot of fighters in combat sports, particularly in the larger divisions, have ceased to resemble humans in the last 20 years or so. A fighter can get KOd three times and then magically conjure up powers to dominate a division for years. Weird.

Someone could get killed because of this so called doctor
Re: boxer in doping scandal..............
Id lock him up, the fact that he mentions the improvement in their performance was phenomenal shows that he knew who they were or what their career path was. Basically he has treated them as human guinea pigs and put their livliehood at risk.

Re: boxer in doping scandal..............
Very shadey the way he said if they're symptomatic he'll treat them and it's up to them to comply with whatever laws are involved with their sports, I suppose he's right in a way but he's not stupid either as he openly discussed the cycle for the drugs to be out of the system of the Times' athlete.

Whether or not you agree with what he has done, he hasn't done anything illegal.
The athletes and clubs involved are the ones that should do be under scrutiny. They know what they are allowed to do within the rules of sport and they knowingly broke them

This is not new - have you seen the statues of the Greek gods? Have you seen their physiques?
I have read that these fellas lived on diets with a lot of sheeps testicles in order to increase their own testosterone levels -the equivalent of going for a pint with Kid Gallahads brother.
They were also possibly advised by the doctors of the day.

Re: boxer in doping scandal..............
Bear in mind that many drugs that are used to enhance Athletic performance are all perfectly legal treatments for Medical conditions. Much of them basically just stop the ageing process, interesting article here:

If you create a killermachine, knowing beforehand he will, or will try to knock somebody out of this world, it's clearly not healthy. Many steroids are bad for your body no matter what way you look at it.bripez wrote:Then why not enlighten us ?asdfjkl wrote:Then you probably don't know what the Hippocratic Oath stands for.freddydoesdallas wrote: That's not a legal oath.
