Joe Gallagher
Joe Gallagher
Did anyone else in the arena see Joe Gallagher's reaction when Adam Smith went to Stephen Smith rather than him after interviewing Callum on saturday? He proper seen his arse and stormed off and twice Eddie had to try and get him back. 1st time him refusing like a petulant child.
Now he's clearly devoted to his fighters and a good trainer due to living 100% boxing but he really needs to know that it's not all about him. Has anyone ever met him or know him personally because he comes across as having a massive ego problem

I don't understand why people get so offended by him, he seems alright to me. His record speaks for itself. I think some fans are just old women.
Same as bellew, I just don't get why he rubs people up the wrong way. Granted his fights aren't too entertaining, but other boxers would get loads of credit for overachieving as he has.

His record does speak for itself, especially as he's had some lads from the beginning and trained them to titles amateur and pro.Stevieb8006 wrote:I don't understand why people get so offended by him, he seems alright to me. His record speaks for itself. I think some fans are just old women.

Doesn't mean he isn't a d!ckhead though.
Think the whole Ring magazine trainer of the year thing went to his head a bit. Seems to want as much limelight and credit as his fighters get, which shouldn't happen. Was a pleasure to see the smugness wiped off his face when Frampton beat Quigg.
I actually find myself rooting against some of his fighters because of him. Although I do like Callum (Smith), Liam and Swifty.

ive never really seen this craving for attention people go on about tbh. I think sometimes if someone pisses you off, you can start to look for it in everything they say. Paul smiths another one that seems alright but get loads of shit. Everyone goes on about how he overates his ability like its a bad thing for a boxer to believe in himselfWebbo911 wrote:His record does speak for itself, especially as he's had some lads from the beginning and trained them to titles amateur and pro.Stevieb8006 wrote:I don't understand why people get so offended by him, he seems alright to me. Re: Joe Gallagher
Record speaks for itself? He's only had 2 world champions in his 10 plus year career and neither of them were with him from the beginning. He has a reputation for turning down hard fights, he turned down lundy for both crolla and Murray. And he stole his wage for quigg v frampton but he won't take any accountability for it.

So you don't count all the domestic titles, or the unbeaten run? Crolla, quigg, smith makes 3 btw.rio wrote:Record speaks for itself? Re: Joe Gallagher
Is he well likes by the older guard such as Maurice core n Ensley Bingham. Wouldn't they be a similar age and wouldn't they of been at Phil Martin's place togetherrio wrote:Record speaks for itself? What I did post was basically I can't stand Paul Smith eitherStevieb8006 wrote:Man that's frustrating when that happensWebbo911 wrote:Not sure what happened above, my whole post disappeared.
He's had opportunities he hasn't earned and now thinks it's his god given right to another world title shot because he did better than expected against one of the divisions weakest titlist.
He will not entertain a fight with Martin Murray, instead saying he wants a couple of 6 or 8 rounders and then a world title shot.
Hows that work?

Technically, u could argue he wasn't towards the end of quiggs reign.(but obv we all know he's the man)MarkMcBurney wrote:Rigo was champ, not QuiggStevieb8006 wrote:So you don't count all the domestic titles, or the unbeaten run? Nope, but then Quiqq was never made super champ, it was merely that the winner of Quigg v Frampton became super champ ;)Stevieb8006 wrote:Technically, u could argue he wasn't towards the end of quiggs reign.(but obv we all know he's the man)MarkMcBurney wrote:Rigo was champ, not QuiggStevieb8006 wrote: So you don't count all the domestic titles, or the unbeaten run? Re: Joe Gallagher
From what I've read on here and seen in interviews etc.. he does come across an arrogant twat but he's obviously doing something right as a trainer and his fighters seem quite loyal toward him.
It gets on my tits a bit when trainers are bitching at each other and getting involved in the build up to a fight. That's not a dig purely at Joe. He's got previous but he's not the only one. The worst for it is that massive piss flap Angel Garcia.

Re: Joe Gallagher
Smith and crolla are the only legitimate champs he's ever had. I would class him as a good domestic trainer but not at the same level of a booth, enzo or macacken. He got found out in the biggest fight of his career. If he really had it 2-2 after 4 in the quigg/frampton fight then the pressure obviously got to him and he was out of his depth. What makes it worse it him, saying he still thinks he got the tactics right and they won the fight.Stevieb8006 wrote:So you don't count all the domestic titles, or the unbeaten run? Re: Joe Gallagher
I think he was a bit lucky with his stable. Very talented boys. But he was an awful, awful strategist in the Quigg fight and also the Cardle fight with his big celebration of a draw...
Re: Joe Gallagher
Quigg was more legitimate than those two.rio wrote:Smith and crolla are the only legitimate champs he's ever had.
Re: Joe Gallagher
But is Smith a legit world champion ? won a vacant belt against someone who was wasted in two rounds not long before and after Gallagher turned down a fight with the person stripped of the belt due to Rocnation.rio wrote:Smith and crolla are the only legitimate champs he's ever had. Re: Joe Gallagher
Liam Smith isn't even a legitimate top 10 ranked light middleweight.Naandrew wrote:But is Smith a legit world champion ? won a vacant belt against someone who was wasted in two rounds not long before and after Gallagher turned down a fight with the person stripped of the belt due to Rocnation.
Re: Joe Gallagher
These unbeaten streaks are down to matchmaking with his fighters huge odds on favourites seriously how many fights have his fighters won with close odds or being underdogs.Stevieb8006 wrote:So you don't count all the domestic titles, or the unbeaten run? Crolla v Perez is all that comes to mind to me. He was in Macklins corner when he should have got the decision v Sturm .........
Re: Joe Gallagher
I like him, think he's entertaining to watch but i'd have to agree. He's beat nobody world class yet.Horse wrote:Liam Smith isn't even a legitimate top 10 ranked light middleweight.Naandrew wrote:But is Smith a legit world champion ? won a vacant belt against someone who was wasted in two rounds not long before and after Gallagher turned down a fight with the person stripped of the belt due to Rocnation.

Seems very dedicated to the game and to his fighters, but can't help but agree that he seems to love time in front of the cameras...
