Dick Richardson v Brian London.

Post by Mimmy »

Is there any footage of this fight. Was talking to my father in law today and had a bloody good talk about boxing in the early 60's etc. He said in this fight London's corner threw in the towel and a bloke entered the ring and London head butted him.

Also he talked about Peter Waterman saying he was Dennis's brother (The Sweeny) he said he was in a bad accident and damaged his arm. When finished boxing he ran a little caravan cafe in London and my f-i-l ate in there while working in london.

Another story of a bloke who worked with him said that Dick Tiger's chief sparring partner was knocked out by one of his colleagues in an altercation.

Another few stories about some Middlesborough well know fighter who he worked with in the 60's too. Cant remember his name now but fought for northern area titles.

Fascinating stuff what oldies come out with.

Hi mimmy

If you look at my post a few weeks back it gives a link to Brian londons interview on the frank skinner show. It includes a highlight of the headbutt you are referring to.
Brutal it is. London didn't suffer fools gladly.

The Brawl in Porthcawl is the London v. Richardson fight.

The situation where Brian buts a ring invader is after the decision in the London v Prescott fight.
