Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
Can Bute get a decision on the road against a TMT fighter?
I'm leaning toward no but I think it'll be a close fight.
Thoughts?
I feel like Bute really fought out of his skull against DeGale. I'm not certain he can channel that sort of effort again fighting outside of Canada.

Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
This is a winnable fight for Bute. Badou Jack isn't particularly impressive, Bute isn't what he once was, but he's been fighting well lately.
Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
I was surprised by how well Bute fought against DeGale. Before that fight he had not been looking good at all. I feel like fighting at home really gave him a boost of energy. His rare efforts away from home haven't been particularly fruitful. He seems to be a guy that really fights on emotion. He seemed to dump everything he had into that DeGale fight. Almost as if it was a last hurrah sort of deal. I just don't think he channel the same sort of work rate and spirit here fighting outside of Canada.

I doubted how good Jack was but thought he erased a lot of the doubters against Groves. I would probably pick Groves over Bute at this point so it's hard to pick Bute over Jack.gilgamesh wrote:This is a winnable fight for Bute. I don't think Jack is great but wins over Dirrell and Groves are solid wins. Were this fight in Canada I would like Bute a whole lot more.

Yeah that's a good point (The Bute fights on emotion and not as well when he's not at home thing)

If the same Bute who fought DeGale turns up I'd just lean towards him by a hair but at 36 I think that was a good fighter putting in his last great performance.

Sorry to go off topic but what odds have you seen for Ramirez against Abraham? I know you bet have you already taken an earlier price or are you leaving this one alone?diddy wrote:Agreed.Larrylefthook wrote:If the same Bute who fought DeGale turns up I'd just lean towards him by a hair but at 36 I think that was a good fighter putting in his last great performance.

Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
Badou Jack is underrated imo. Then again Bute is also underrated by some, when motivated he's a world class fighter as he proved against Degale. Not the elite but a solid top 10 fighter.
It should be a good fight. I'm going with Jack on points.

Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
Ever since Badou Jack came back with Heredia, he's been an animal. Guy is definitely on roids, but he's also underrated right now. I thought he'd lose both fights against Dirrell and Groves. Very impressive, close win against Groves, mind you.
This is a 50-50 fight because I still remember Jack being floored by Derek Edwards. Bute has enough power to cause the upset, but man, I'm not betting against Jack anymore. It's like betting against Danny Garcia.

Don't bet against Jack until he has to fight DeGale.Mexi-Box wrote:Ever since Badou Jack came back with Heredia, he's been an animal. Guy is definitely on roids, but he's also underrated right now. Even DeGale is 50-50, man. DeGale gasses late, and if he does against Jack, he'll lose.hulkmaniac wrote:Don't bet against Jack until he has to fight DeGale.Mexi-Box wrote:Ever since Badou Jack came back with Heredia, he's been an animal. Oh don't get me wrong, it won't be easy however I'm fairly certain that Degale should win. If somehow Jack beats DeGale, I bet Froch will come back and snatch those belts from him.
Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
I was very surprised by both in their last fights. I thought Groves would beat Jack, but the latter boxed well. I thought Bute showed some of his pre-Froch abilities against Chunky, and put up a very spirited display. I expect Jack to win this by a few rounds, but it should be a decent watch.

Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
Jack should be able to outwork Bute to a points win over 12 rounds. I'd give Bute a much bigger chance in Canada.
Also see Abraham getting outworked over 12 aswell.

Yah or thinking along different lines, I found it ahem *interesting* that a 36YO Bute, never known for good stamina, showed such good workrate in the Degale fight.gilgamesh wrote:Yeah that's a good point (The Bute fights on emotion and not as well when he's not at home thing)

Both are taking magic shakes, let's not kid ourselves.
Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
It's a close one, I have a feeling Bute could do it. He seems to have regained his form after being out of sorts over the past few years.

Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
For Bute, it's all a matter of confidence. He does not seem too strong mentally and if Jack connects him solidly, this is where the fight should turn in favour of Jack, but don't count Bute out, yet.
Under the Grant Brothers, he made significantly improvement mentally and Bute is in good shape and still have his abilities, plus the experience. He's been too hell lately and, when that happens, wether you never get over it or you become stronger. Unfortunately, he's not getting younger and that's what could play against him.
I choose Bute to win this fight.

Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
On PBC in the U.S., Jack will get a decision.
Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
A ton of late money coming in on Bute. Now is the time to get in on Jack. The price is right. It wasn't before.
Re: Lucian Bute vs Badou Jack
thought bute put up a tough fight ,against for me an improving de gale, see bute winning a decision , unless he gets knocked down early like groves and has to chase the fight
