British Super-Middleweights
How do you rank the guys at the moment. For me James DeGale and Callum Smith are the clear top 2 - I don't think I have to justify James DeGale but, the reason I have put Callum Smith in the top two is because he is young, great speed and power, can really capitalise on an opportunity and he beats the rest out there.
so from the list how do you rank them? James DeGale, Callum Smith, Rocky Fielding, Martin Murray, George Groves, Paul Smith, Luke Blackledge, Jamie Cox & David Brophy
I have:
#1 James Degale #2 Callum Smith #3 George Groves #4 Martin Murray #5 Paul Smith #6 David Brophy #7 Rocky Fielding #8 Jamie Cox #9 Luke Blackledge

I'd have Fielding number 5. I still think he beats Paul Smithfightfan95 wrote:How do you rank the guys at the moment. 3. Martin Murray
4. George Groves
5. Rocky Fielding
6. Paul Smith
7. Jamie Cox
8. David Brophy
9. Luke Blackledge
Pretty much (IMO) ranked from who would beat who. I'd probably edge Degale over Callum if they fought next, but it would be damn close and Smith keeps proving me wrong when I think like that.
For some reason I fancy Murray would beat Groves. Again, it would be close but that's what I'm thinking on gut instinct at the moment.
Groves would beat Fielding, Fielding would beat P.Smith and so on down the ladder. I haven't ranked with any sort of historical achievement etc.

1. DeGale
2. Smith
3. Groves
4. Murray
5/6. Fielding/Cox (can't split them. Fight I'd like to see. Also what is the deal with Jamie's licence atm?)
7. Paul Smith
8. Blackledge
9. Brophy
Also have Mark Heffron who's young and can whack a bit. Been really inactive but if he starts fighting more frequently then he could certainly be in the mix. Agree with that 9 just now though.

He was disappointing against Abraham.Stuarty30 wrote:Surprised you only have Murray at 3
He might be better off back at middleweight.
Re: British Super-Middleweights
Maybe if he can make the weight? I'd fancy him to give Saunders a good go.Horse wrote:He was disappointing against Abraham.Stuarty30 wrote:Surprised you only have Murray at 3

Re: British Super-Middleweights
His cholesterol levels would certainly be better off with him going back down to Middleweight, but at his current trajectory I'd say he's more likely to end up at Cruiser.Stuarty30 wrote:Maybe if he can make the weight? Martin Murray and P. Smith are to high. They've done fornicate all at super middle. Their best wins are Dodson for Smith and Torres the middleweight for Murray, If they want big fights then they should earn them instead of having shitty little 6 rounders against bums cos they know they will lose to ranked guys.

I still think Smith is going to come unstuck at the highest level as I think he'll struggle against slicker boxers and I'm not convinced by his defence - that classic British upright style with marginal head movement tends to only get you so far.
I'd also rate Jamie Cox higher, but accept that's based on potential rather than achievement to date (though his future progress is obviously in jeopardy at the moment).
