Lee Selby vs Eric Hunter

Post by Marlo Stanfield »

On the undercard of AJ Martin on Saturday. Not seen much of the American. Does he stand a chance against Selby?

Haven't seen Hunter. Selby is brilliant one fight & pedestrian the next. Maybe about styles, maybe about focus.

Best of luck to them both.

Apparently they rearranged the card which forced Showtime to remove this fight from their broadcast. Lame.

This. It's a brave man who bets on Selby given you're never sure which version is going to show up.

I can see Selby forcing a stoppage.

Hunter seems to buckle under pressure.

I've seen some limited clips of Hunter and he is FAST. I think he is well in this fight, way more so than the 5/1 odds on him suggest. I'm betting small on the upset.

Hunter will most assuredly get mugged by the judges. He better win 10 rounds.

Selby should win. He has a good boxing brain and can adapt. He is cautious, that sometimes does not make good viewing but he knows how to win rounds.

Would you back Hunter heavily if the fight was in the US at the same price?

More I think about this more I see the upset. This line is WIDE.

The line is wide because Hunter isn't a puncher and winning a decision there will be nearly impossible.

Well, clearly Selby will be favoured but there have been plenty of guys who won on the road in the UK. Bradley, Glen Johnson, Crawford, just off the top of my head, but there are undoubtedly more.

I can see a situation where Hunter wins clearly enough to get it. Plus, while he isn't a monster puncher I think he definitely has enough pop to get Selby's attention.

Diddy has got a bee in his bonnet and says the same thing over and over about Britain, you won't change his mind. Nothing like that happens in the U.S of course.

Selby and pressure? He is all defense. This is going to distance unless American is a total bum.

I myself hope Hunter is good enough to pose a threat, otherwise we will be falling asleep fast.

"Wants" to fight them "but not right away" ? Like BJS "wants" Golovkin ? For $5 mil ? Loma would have signed to fight Selby immediately. So would the other two.

PERHAPS YOU ARE STUPID. Promotional agreements can't always be made with different networks.

I actually chuckled out loud with that one.

Not that I think Selby would win, but if somebody feels that way, ok. Destroys?!? Russell gave Loma a pretty good fight.

WTF are you talking about. What promotional agreements are in the way in Selby's case ? He was lucky to get the title from the mediocre champion and he knows that he would be destroyed by those three top featherweights.

Only if hitting Loma's shadow counts as a punch.
