Beating overmatched chumpstains means nothing to me.

Brook is a bully and a bore.

Talent wise he is as good as anyone we have if not the best.

I don't think so.

He fights clearly inferior opposition more than just about any other significant British fighter.

Brook is a bully and is also incredibly boring.

Then why doesn't he fight anyone decent?

Him being genuinely talented makes his behaviour even more unacceptable.

Brook is a bully. Why doesn't he pick on someone his own size?

Maybe he's too good a boxer for his profile to cope with. I don't know that to be the case in Kell's case but to use a couple of extreme examples, Rigo would likely beat any fighter in his division with relative ease, so to Luis Ortiz (possibly), who wants to fight them? Nobody. Why? They're good but don't bring any fans or money to the table.

I hope he faces someone who will push him, a real challenger, I agree that his championship career is not at all distinguished though Brook does go out to put on a show. If his next opponent is a mismatch picked from the rankings then I will lose interest in his reign.

Shaun Porter is decent and Brook done well against him but I'm agreeing with you on his opposition. It's not nearly good enough. I have a feeling he might be a bit mentally week and not as confident as he makes out but there's no debating the guys ability. I'd put him in with any of the top welters but there has to be a willingness from himself, Hearn and whoever they're wanting to face.

Porter was a world class win no doubt, but that's all he's got.

He need's a violent kick up his arse.

If Hearn can't do anything for him this year then they need to part company.

Either part company or try and sort something out with Haymon similar to what DeGale done. That would surely open up a few doors for him over the water. It all comes down to what Kell wants to do. He has the talent, he's good to watch but is he willing to try and force these big fights? I'm not sure. We need to see something from him next up and he needs to make a statement.

I know that, you know that but it comes down to numbers. It's not Brook who is ducking fights, it's other fighters who don't want to fight him. Nobody is interested (yet).

I expect that they'll pick the weakest opponent that will be considered acceptable and then he'll have to fight a shockingly bad mandatory challenger in his next fight.

Brook is ducking fighters and so is Rigondeaux.

They're two of the biggest clowns in world boxing.

How cynical :oo If he pulls that pish again then I'm officially off the Brook bandwagon and I've been a fan since the early days. I remain optimistic though. I'll actually be quite shocked if him and Hearn try and feed us another dumpling!

I disagree, mate. I don't think either are ducking anybody. Nobody who is any good wants to know and you can see the logic. Find me a decent heavyweight who'd risk fighting Ortiz. It's the same thing. Even at pushing forty, I'd back him to beat any of the current heavyweights with ease, but none of them will touch him with a barge pole.

I agree with this post from you, but not that many others on your thread. I think Brook is an excellent talent, and as a result I really enjoy watching him.

His career is very Calzaghe-esq though. He looks the part and I reckon like Calzaghe was he really is the part. However a combination of injuries, poor madatories and underwhelming work from his promoter means he has had very few good quality fights.

He needs a huge fight asap - Vargas or Garcia in a unification for me. Peterson, Berri, Gurrero won't cut it this time out given the last 18 months

Ortiz has been fighting good opposition, there's no reason to talk about fighters ducking him.

What efforts have Brook or Rigondeaux made to fight good opposition?

Neither deserve the benefit of the doubt. Other fighters don't have to jump through hoops to please these two bottom feeders.

Vargas is pretty rubbish though.

He'd probably be Brook's 2nd best opponent to date, but he'd still be a paper champion no mark really.

Good post. I actually thought Peterson would be a decent shout as I think Brook would whip him and that would give him some bragging rights over Khan. On reflection though I reckon he (and Hearn) should just forget all about Amir and do his own thing. The Khan fight will never happen now IMO.

Brook's personality may not help him but you are who you are. Maybe he's not good at calling people out and building his profile. Same with Rigo. That's what I mean really. I don't think either a ducking anybody, I just think they're who needs him types.

As to Ortiz, you just watch over the next year or two. All the big guns will stay well clear if they can. What's the attraction in low pay and a high beating?

Rigondeaux pulled out against James Dickens.

Rigondeaux is managed by clowns and is also a massive clown himself.

He is not ducked anywhere near as much as his fans would like people to believe.

He's not been ducked so far.

Most "ducked" fighters are full of crap and are often ducking opponents themselves.

No manager/promoter really wants to openly state his fighter is overlooked because he can't draw flies. I don't think Brook is ducking anybody.

I think he is.

Brook is in a fantastic position to fight good opposition.

He has no acceptable excuse.
