Agreed, Watson was always the most technically sound of the three, its just that his style was more measured and his given talents were less extravagant.

Scored it a 116-116 draw! So hard to pick round winners for at least 8 of the rounds.

First time I've seen the fight. Interesting technical match up, with a great last three rounds.

No way was this a robbery.

Really forgot how technically sound he was.

Also think he's done great modern day. I thought him doing the London Marathon was such a fantastic achievement.

Technically sound but a bit unimaginative, which was his undoing against McCallum and (on my card) just cost him the first Eubank fight. Like I said, while he pumped the jab out consistently he couldn't find way to land very many of them. Had he taken the fight inside a bit more he might have made more of Eubank's poorer stamina.

Great fight especially the 2nd half of it,i scored it 116-112 to Eubank,he was outworked by Watson for the most part but Chris always threw the more hurtful punches until the last 3/4 rounds when Michael started to sit down on his shots a bit more

Got to comment on this one, I was there that night.

Funny night this, the atmosphere was electric, and the fight seemed fantastic live, but I've watched it back since and it's more technical than a stormer. I disagree that it was a poor fight though, it was decent, but both men seemed scared to commit to a real battle.

I remember at the time thinking that it was a draw, but find it hard to disagree that Eubank edged it on a second watch. I can see how people are swayed though. Every punch that Watson threw that landed anywhere near Eubank, was roared on by the crowd. Jim Watt's summing up was pretty one sided too.

I often wonder if we saw the best of Watson in these last 2 fights, or whether he could have gone on to be a Champion. Shame we'll never know.
