Brook v Garcia??
Brook v Garcia??
"Danny Garica is rumoured to have put a five million dollar price tag on any possible fight with Kell Brook in Sheffield.
IBF champion Brook is desperate to unify the welterweight division and has told his promoter Eddie Hearn that the American rival’s WBC belt is his top pick.
Speculation over the pond is that Garcia would travel to England, most likely for a July outdoor show at Bramall Lane, if he is guaranteed a five million dollar purse (more than three and a half million pounds.)
Brook is a proud athlete and showed over the failed negotiations with Amir Khan that he would not be short-changed.
So if the rumours are true Hearn will be doing his sums to see if a Pay Per View show would be a financial success as well as a global spectacle.
Certainly, Garcia v Brook would be a mouth-watering clash. The 28-year-old from Philadelphia has an unblemished 32-fight winning career, taking the scalps of Robert Guerrero, Lamont Peterson and Erik Morales along the way...as well as stopping Khan, four years ago in Las Vegas.
More than half of his victims have failed to last the distance against him.
Garcia has boxed in Puerto Rico and Mexico, so has been prepared to go to other countries when it suits him.
A few days ago Adrien Broner suggested he would fight Garcia, despite the fact the pair are friends.
Interestingly, Brook also asked twitter followers this week “Who would love to see me fight @AdrienBroner RT to make it happen this summer!” "

No way Camp Eddie pays that.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
Garcia is a good match up for Brook. I can't see him coming over here though. Kell might need to suck it up and jump on a plane if he REALLY wants to make these kind of fights happen. It would certainly be a feather in big glitter bollux Hearns cap if he managed to get Garcia over.

He was always going to want silly money to come here, it's a great fight but I'm not sure it's that big, if they can get it in the states Kell should go for it, I'm sure he'd win this.

Re: Brook v Garcia??
So he's price himself out of that one....Everybody blames Brook and his team but with fighters wanting stupid money it's hard for them to make the big fights
Re: Brook v Garcia??
Don't see how Eddie can make that one stack-up.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
The options for Kell really are not great. If Bradley beats Pac I think that fight should be easier to make than Pac if he wins. Thurman-Porter have had their fight scheduled for what seems like an eternity. Khan has Canelo. Spence-Algieri is to become Brooks mandatory. Realistically it leaves only Bradley, Garcia, Vargas, Peterson & the winner of Spence-Algieri. I wouldn't mind seeing them looking to get Vargas or Peterson over to the UK next.

From a business point of view you can't blame the Garcia camp when they are supposedly getting millions fighting anyone at home on PBC shows. It's a shame but Kell is basically a "who needs him" kind of fighter now. One of if not the best in the division but not a huge draw worldwide.Switch hitter wrote:So he's price himself out of that one....Everybody blames Brook and his team but with fighters wanting stupid money it's hard for them to make the big fights

Re: Brook v Garcia??
For me, this fight sells and mainly is due to Amir Khan.
Best way of selling this is by repeating Garcia dropping him constantly. A lot of casuals will get into it because of this and i'm very interested in this fight myself and i'm guessing most on here would be too. I would definitely pay for it.

Re: Brook v Garcia??
Yeah agree. He had a very good win against Porter over there but it wasn't great to watch, Porter is near impossible to look good against. A fight with Garcia would be a lot different and one I see Kell winning in style. Obviously it would be great to have a fight like that over here but realistically it isn't going to happen.Nightmare Roy wrote:He was always going to want silly money to come here, it's a great fight but I'm not sure it's that big, if they can get it in the states Kell should go for it, I'm sure he'd win this.

Bradley is getting $9m for the Pac fight so will probably want a rest then price himself out.
I agree with you that Vargas or Peterson looks most realistic.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
It's an obvious selling point for the promoters and it would definitely get more of the casuals interested but it's great fight in its own right. I'm with you, I would have no problem paying for this fight. It would certainly shut Amir up about Kells opposition if he were to beat a guy that knocked him out.freddydoesdallas wrote:For me, this fight sells and mainly is due to Amir Khan.

What's Maidana doing nowadays? My mate sent me a pic of him the other week and he was bloated to fornicate. Not looking as if he's even thinking about fighting again. Pity because that would've been a decent match up for Kell and Hearn could've maybe even managed to get Maidana over here?

Pie In the sky..Garcia coming over here to fight Brook in Sheffield! Do me a favour. Kell is not AJ who can generate Millions and over pay to get somebody big over here. The only name fighters Hearn can possibly get over here is going to be a Guerreo/Vargas type- even then I think he will need to go stateside.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
Peterson would be a joke fight.johnswan1 wrote:The options for Kell really are not great. If Bradley beats Pac I think that fight should be easier to make than Pac if he wins. Kell don't sell out little Sheffield arena
He is not a ppv star so he will be on his way to usa for a fight

Re: Brook v Garcia??
Bit harsh. Step up from his last three opponents (not difficult). A lot of people had him beating Garcia. I'd much rather see him in with one of the top boys though.lefty wrote:Peterson would be a joke fight.johnswan1 wrote:The options for Kell really are not great. His mauling of Khan would provide interest.lefty wrote: Peterson would be a joke fight.

Would Khan be a joke fight too? Bearing in mind that Peterson beat him.lefty wrote:Peterson would be a joke fight.johnswan1 wrote:The options for Kell really are not great. His last fight was a "hard sell". A summer stadium fight against a name would generate big interest throughout Britain.mullenman wrote:Kell don't sell out little Sheffield arena

I agree with you in that he's not a ppv star but the match up sells rather than him. Much in the same way that Khan fights sell.mullenman wrote:Kell don't sell out little Sheffield arena

It may not happen here but i reckon they would generate the ticket sales and ppv to cover it

Paying big bucks for Garcia or Bradley is a not a good move. It's catch 22 because you need a stadium to cover the wages, but neither yank could fill a stadium and can barely fill a telephone box on their own in America. They're TV fighters only.
If it's a marquee fight then it's got to be Cotto at MSG.
Otherwise Garcia, Thurman, Bradley at the 02 arena (if they take the lower money etc) - or over stateside as part of a bigger show or something.

Re: Brook v Garcia??
I still see more of a chance Bradley coming over than Garcia.
Bradley doesn't mind being the B side and he's fought here before.
I can see Garcia getting the winner of Thurman/Porter. Potentially the biggest fight in house for the PBC.
Broner wouldn't be a bad fight. He'd sell the fight well to the casual and it's still Brooks second toughest test behind Porter.

Re: Brook v Garcia??
Bradley a possibility, especially if he loses to Pac. No chance of a fight with Broner. Broner has already learned he can't be effective against big Welters and Brook is one of the biggest.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
They'd get a bigger crowd at Bramall Lane than O2 - they get 20,000 every fortnight for a mid-table 3 division side that's not won a trophy in over 90 years. Brook's one of their own so they'd turnout plus boxing fans from round the UK.G0mez wrote:Paying big bucks for Garcia or Bradley is a not a good move.
