Rumours Stateside were that Garcia was hanging on hoping for Floyd.PredatorHayds wrote:I still see more of a chance Bradley coming over than Garcia.
Bradley doesn't mind being the B side and he's fought here before.
I can see Garcia getting the winner of Thurman/Porter. Potentially the biggest fight in house for the PBC.
Broner wouldn't be a bad fight. He'd sell the fight well to the casual and it's still Brooks second toughest test behind Porter.
Brook v Garcia??

This is why I want him to stay away. I think he'll be back this year or next though.BigDoofus wrote:Rumours Stateside were that Garcia was hanging on hoping for Floyd.PredatorHayds wrote:I still see more of a chance Bradley coming over than Garcia.

He's one of their own at Bramall Lane but at Sheffield Arena they give it a miss?BigDoofus wrote:They'd get a bigger crowd at Bramall Lane than O2 - they get 20,000 every fortnight for a mid-table 3 division side that's not won a trophy in over 90 years. Re: Brook v Garcia??
Pay the money take the short end and knockout Garcia then he will be big news and a unified WW champion, then he can command big money after.
Once Garcia sees our tax rates that $5m demand might change to $7m though.

BigDoofus wrote:"Danny Garica is rumoured to have put a five million dollar price tag on any possible fight with Kell Brook in Sheffield.
IBF champion Brook is desperate to unify the welterweight division and has told his promoter Eddie Hearn that the American rival’s WBC belt is his top pick.
Speculation over the pond is that Garcia would travel to England, most likely for a July outdoor show at Bramall Lane, if he is guaranteed a five million dollar purse (more than three and a half million pounds.)
Brook is a proud athlete and showed over the failed negotiations with Amir Khan that he would not be short-changed.
So if the rumours are true Hearn will be doing his sums to see if a Pay Per View show would be a financial success as well as a global spectacle.
Certainly, Garcia v Brook would be a mouth-watering clash. The 28-year-old from Philadelphia has an unblemished 32-fight winning career, taking the scalps of Robert Guerrero, Lamont Peterson and Erik Morales along the way...as well as stopping Khan, four years ago in Las Vegas.
More than half of his victims have failed to last the distance against him.
Garcia has boxed in Puerto Rico and Mexico, so has been prepared to go to other countries when it suits him.
A few days ago Adrien Broner suggested he would fight Garcia, despite the fact the pair are friends.
Interestingly, Brook also asked twitter followers this week “Who would love to see me fight @AdrienBroner RT to make it happen this summer!” "
Sorry I don’t really use Twitter. What’s @AdrianBroner RT?.......Right tit?
Personally I think that Lamont did a job on Garcia who was outclassed for at LEAST the last 7 or 8 rounds. But you’ve got to respect his win over Khan, which despite all Khan’s experience looked simple!
I could see Brook winning in England and Garcia winning in the US.
The really singular question mark about this fight is is Brook seasoned enough at the top level, whereas Garcia has proved this.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
They turn-up religiously every fortnight for the football. A big boxing event there in the summer (with Brook and Hearn playing on his football allegiances) and many will go.Sklar wrote:He's one of their own at Bramall Lane but at Sheffield Arena they give it a miss?BigDoofus wrote:They'd get a bigger crowd at Bramall Lane than O2 - they get 20,000 every fortnight for a mid-table 3 division side that's not won a trophy in over 90 years. Re: Brook v Garcia??
Football and boxing are worlds apart in terms of fan support, football fans tend to have an almost religious devotion to their team, which is usually drilled into them by an older family member from a young age. They will go and support their team week in week out if they are winning or losing.BigDoofus wrote:They turn-up religiously every fortnight for the football. I wonder how many Bramell lane regulars know or care about Brook.
Re: Brook v Garcia??

Genuine question, does he ever go? I'm sure he turned up with the belt etc but I mean is he a regular down there? Some of these football links can be a "tad" tenuous in my experience.

Someone's asked him how much and he's told them. It's the beginning of a negotiation.Switch hitter wrote:So he's price himself out of that one....Everybody blames Brook and his team but with fighters wanting stupid money it's hard for them to make the big fights
Brook wants a big fight, but he is not a marquee name like Hatton or a big name heavyweight like Haye or Joshua.
Re: Brook v Garcia??
The problem is that fighting these last few meaningless fighters at home people can ignore him. He needs to go to the states or Eddie has to put his money where his mouth is and pay for these fighters to come over here.

I've got a lot of respect for Degale. If you can't get the fights at home, go over there and get them.SNG wrote:The problem is that fighting these last few meaningless fighters at home people can ignore him. To be fair I don't..... but if he wants 5 million I don't think he will manoeuvre it's a fight he will probably lose and Eddie would need to sell out more than Bramall lanekeithmoonhangover wrote:How do you know there is no negotiation?Switch hitter wrote:He doesn't want the fight that's why he has said 5 million no negotiation there.......he need to go over there again and make himself knownkeithmoonhangover wrote:

Maidana has retired. plus Eddie Hearn wouldn't dare put Brook in with himStuarty30 wrote:It's an obvious selling point for the promoters and it would definitely get more of the casuals interested but it's great fight in its own right. Best way of selling this is by repeating Garcia dropping him constantly. A lot of casuals will get into it because of this and i'm very interested in this fight myself and i'm guessing most on here would be too. I would definitely pay for it.
What's Maidana doing nowadays? My mate sent me a pic of him the other week and he was bloated to eff. Not looking as if he's even thinking about fighting again. Pity because that would've been a decent match up for Kell and Hearn could've maybe even managed to get Maidana over here?

Re: Brook v Garcia??
I think we can rule out ANY fighter signed with Al Haymon
as I am sure he will want to sign him to his own stable, so unlikely he will offer him his fighters till he has him
IMO its another shiz fight for Kell or he bins eddie off and goes stateside ala Degale/Selby

PBC don't seem as flush as they were. His fighters are now fighting on other promoter's shows and last weekend's fight was their first show in 5 months.sweetscience wrote:I think we can rule out ANY fighter signed with Al Haymon

Hearn said he'd spoken to them about Garcia, Thurman and Peterson.
