Is it true??
Mikey Garcia officially released from Top Rank??
If so, I guarantee that we will see better fights for this young man, he has talent and should be one of the top fighters in the sport right now but this legal battle with Arum has left him on the shelf for a while so he might by as rusty as Ward was.
Your thoughts on Mikey Garcia and being newly released from TR are appreciated.

Re: Is it true??
mikey was so stupid, he shouldve kept on boxing and fullfilling arums contract and than starting something new.
but no fights in 2 years and no serious training is no goog considering mikey was in his prime.
he will stil be a good boxer, but i doubt he will be as good as he has been, there are simply 2 years of hardcore training for championchips gone...

Re: Is it true??
I recall hearing Mikey Garcia quit boxing and is becoming a sheriff or something.

This +1!!Noslackgiven wrote:Arum did this guy wrong(Pac too)...yet they complain about Haymon.
Arum has been accepted as being the biggest Rapist in the sport, therefore his behavior is such a norm that it has become accepted as general practice.
Re: Is it true??
Please explain exactly how arum did him wrong. Dude was getting good money despite not being able to draw anyone or generate decent ratings. Despite that, he was still being groomed for big fights.Noslackgiven wrote:Arum did this guy wrong(Pac too)...yet they complain about Haymon.
He signed a contract and then decided he didn't like it. That is on him.
Add mikey Garcia to my list of fighters I hate.

Raping Manny for 27% of his pay, not allowing him to face anyone other than TR fighters for years.
As far as Garcia, it is apparent you do not have any idea of all the crap between him and Arum; Bob wouldn't give him any fights either which is why he (Mikey) was on the shelf for so long and the chief reason why he (Mikey) won his freedom from that slave contract through the courts.

I wouldn't go so far as saying they'd kill him (though I know he doesn't mean it literally) but I'm sure he'd be on blast but TBH, it won't be the first time a black man that is a promoter has been a crook in boxing and yet he's still around and they haven't killed him.

Oscar and Floyd had the brains and balls to leave..unlike man-child Manny.
I'll believe Garcia's side long before I believe Arum's.
Re: Is it true??
No I don not have any idea of the crap between arum and Garcia. From what I have seen, Garcia was paid nearly seven figures to fight mediocre guys despite the fact that he was a total non-draw. And Garcia was getting plenty of fights until he started whining about his contract.Undefeated49-0 wrote:jockpunk wrote:Please explain exactly how arum did him wrong. Manny continually re-signed with Arum. If the terms of the contract were that bad why did he keep doing that. Yes Manny is an idiot, but he can't be that dumb.

give over with the hate. Unlike Ward, Mikey is a well liked fighter and is certainly a draw. If he signs with GBP his career will be back on track. He even dropped Maidana in sparring in the 2 year break.

To me it is ludicrous for anyone to hate on Mikey, he made it clear to Arum that he wanted a fight with Manny and many others that Bob would not allow because he was trying to milk those fighters he like with bigger names in his stable to face fighters he considered the lesser threats.
Re: Is it true??
unless I'm mistaken, arum wanted to put Garcia in there with terrance Crawford. Garcia wanted no part of that.
Of course he wanted to fight manny, so does everyone. If he really wanted that fight, maybe he should have started fighting some guys that were actually close to mannys weight class. You know, to actually build a name for himself.

Well how could he as you so eloquently stated that he wanted all these other fighters but Arum wouldn't do it. It wasn't MG who turned down Crawford.

Are we to believe Arum given his track record and his statement of "Yesterday I was lying but today I'm telling the truth" comments?
He made it clear here to me that they never offered him Crawford:
That doesn't sound like he was offered a fight with him.All he has to do is stop playing games, get on the phone and call me or Todd [duBoef] and say 'I would like to be considered for the Crawford fight,' and then we can discuss terms.
Re: Is it true??
I'd like to see more of Garcia. It's been a few years now so that means even if he returns to the ring we'll be looking at a year of retooling fights like we're seeing with Andre Ward and guys like that. So that's another year or so of his prime down the drain basically.

Yep, unfortunately. Hopefully he will get at least 2 tune-up bouts before he takes on a more polished fighter.

Here is another opinion:

I think Bob personally felt it was time to concentrate fully on fighters who want to do their jobs...

Agreed, time wasted!
Arum might be a crook and he might have been getting a rough deal, but he signed the contract.
The last 2 years would have been better used by keeping busy, fight the fights and see out the contract and he'd be a free agent by now.
No legal battle and a damn sight fresher fighter than he will be with 2 years lost time and ring rust

Yes because we should all believe in everything Arum says since he always tell the truth, right??
Re: Is it true??
Why would they offer the fight to Garcia now when it has been years since he has shown any interest in fighting? Might as well call up Kosta Tsyzu while they are at it.Undefeated49-0 wrote:jockpunk wrote:unless I'm mistaken, arum wanted to put Garcia in there with terrance Crawford. I believe Garcia was offered a Crawford fight back in like 2014 which he had no interest in. Thought he deserved pac despite beating no one anywhere close to 147.

I just posted the link and the quote with what Arum said and you still believe that he was offered that fight? Wowjockpunk wrote:Why would they offer the fight to Garcia now when it has been years since he has shown any interest in fighting? Might as well call up Kosta Tsyzu while they are at it.

That link is from 2016. Why would bob arum offer a fight to a fighter who has shown no interest in fighting in years? There is nothing in your link that refutes my suggestion that Garcia was offered the fight a couple of years ago.Undefeated49-0 wrote:I just posted the link and the quote with what Arum said and you still believe that he was offered that fight?
