Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Charles Martin (c) - April 9th 2016
Can anyone explain how Joshua's weight has barely changed since he fought Darch over two years ago and has actually gone down since the Cornish fight last year?
I'd be asking my dealer for a refund...

It's quite a dodgy one to mess around with aswell though from what i've heard although could be wrong. I was under the impression that if you had a brain tumour say and are unaware of it and are pumping your body full of HGH, it speeds up the growth of the tumour. Again though I could possibly be wrong on that.watsupdoc87 wrote:hgh is near imposible to test for as its a natural hormone the body produces and cant be detected the same way say testosterone is detected by checking your test levelsSklar wrote:It's unfortunate that people don't get a better handle on this issue. The common misconception is thst if people pass drug tests they must be clean. That's complete nonsense. The allowable ratios for testosterone are ridiculously high, which practically gives a green light for steroid usage up to that level. Tests for HGH are crap, so are rarely done and are ineffectual.Counter-puncher wrote:Oh god

Excess humility is a well-known cause of weight loss actually

yeah thats true about tumours and so on will prob grow aswell if you take growth. also long term use your jaw, nose, feet and your insides will grow which is why you get the turtle belly as your abdominal muscles are pushed out a bitlefty wrote:It's quite a dodgy one to mess around with aswell though from what i've heard although could be wrong. I have. The grand total of 15lbs I believe. In two and a half years. Half a pound per month.lefty wrote:Have you seen what he weighed on his debut versus now though?the_doctor wrote:Can anyone explain how Joshua's weight has barely changed since he fought Darch over two years ago and has actually gone down since the Cornish fight last year?

In fact, his pattern of weight increase - a relatively quick increase, reaching a plateau and then stabilising - is exactly what we would expect to see in someone that was (shock, horror!) upping their training load.

Half a pound per month over two years is a lot if it's largely muscle, and he'd be burning plenty of calories from non-lifting exercises. It's also not like Joshua had just started hitting the weights and was making noob gains.
Him simultaneously having ripped abs and a gut makes me suspicious too.

Cmon there's no need for the passive-aggressive tone when I just asked a simple question. Anyway, A stone of pretty much pure muscle (because his body fat % is clearly very low) over a two year period is still quite a lot actually unless you're new to lifting with Joshua clearly isn't. On top of that, his training regime would be more rigorous now than when he was an amateur weighing in the low 230's, particularly cardio wise and thus burning more calories and yet his weight has gone up versus down. I mean I guess that's normal though. That's ignoring the fact that he has a rather strange looking stomach which can be a symptom of a certain Hormone but we can give him the benefit of the doubt on that.the_doctor wrote:I have. Well he wouldn't maintain that pace, agreed, but then, who would?Starboxer wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:Starboxer wrote:

Better how? What are you basing the stamina on, given Joshua's not even been 12 rounds yet.
I'd say that Joshua's output of punches is quite impressive for a man of his size.
He can't keep that Pace up. I agree though he was throwing close to 100 punches a round in the whyte fight , power shots as well

It's quite common in people that do lots of weights, it's called 'bowling' not a sign of anything nefarious.lefty wrote:You've basically just said what i've just written. Are we adding David Haye to our list of cheats? Whacked on 17lbs between Enzo and Barrett and he's gone up 17lbs since he fought Chisora. He's always had a pretty low body fat % too.

Probably. Not sure what your point is though?the_doctor wrote:Are we adding David Haye to our list of cheats? Whacked on 17lbs between Enzo and Barrett and he's gone up 17lbs since he fought Chisora. He's always had a pretty low body fat % too.

You mean between a fight he had to make 14st 4 for, and a fight he didn't?

It's a likely sign of excess insulin in the body.jamesmcdonnell wrote:It's quite common in people that do lots of weights, it's called 'bowling' not a sign of anything nefarious.lefty wrote:You've basically just said what i've just written. Anyway, is that bulge in your trousers natural or did you buy it on the dark web?

I already covered that earlier with the 'genetic heritage' argumentthe_doctor wrote:Are we adding David Haye to our list of cheats? He's always had a pretty low body fat % too.
Well, that, and a shit-ton of cheatjuice.

There's a lot of people that lift that don't have that.jamesmcdonnell wrote:It's quite common in people that do lots of weights, it's called 'bowling' not a sign of anything nefarious.lefty wrote:You've basically just said what i've just written.
