The slow demise of BoxRec's Current Scene forum
Re: The slow demise of BoxRec's Current Scene forum
Slow demise? From what I've observed, this sub-forum has always been a shower of shite aside from the few people that do know what they're talking about, posters like crusader and others. Otherwise it's full of the same repetitive threads and dipshits.

But I just got here...

Most of the time for sensible Boxing conversation you look elsewhere. Too many fans get too caught up in their fandom and can't discuss fights objectively.

There are some really top notch posters here. Some of the most knowledgeable boxing fans I've "met" have been right here.
And yes there are lots of trolls and fanboys that can affect the quality if you let them. Best to block them and interact with the higher echelon of posters

Goodbye to another new alias.

Well said. That are merely a few trolls who try to ruin it for the majority of good members.punchoutsb wrote:There are some really top notch posters here. Some of the most knowledgeable boxing fans I've "met" have been right here.

The problem is that they make the most noise within this sub.The Law wrote:Well said. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Brut. It was just another banned member returning with a new alias.lefty wrote:Who was that? Brut? The Law wrote:How would you know that Starboxer? You have been a member for around 2 weeks ......Starboxer wrote:

They can be loud, but once you've blocked them you can find lots of good content. I used to never use the ignore feature; since I've started using it the quality has gone way up.lefty wrote:The problem is that they make the most noise within this sub.The Law wrote:Well said. Brut/KBB/KoolKC/Undeafeted49&0 is actually a comical genius. The problem is he is ahead of his time and nobody really gets his brand of humour.
Then you have bnovelist who again is something of a comical genius with a very distinct posting style. He's great, he never quotes another poster and replies directly. It's like anyone who replies in his threads become Stewie from Family Guy... do adults hear what he says when he speaks?
I enjoy current scene though. The British and Irish sub forum is a bit too serious. I usually find CS thrives when we have more megafights to talk about. Boxing has been quiet this winter imo, an that generates some nonsense in the forum due to boredom.

Re: The slow demise of BoxRec's Current Scene forum
It seems that a problem arises when a person likes an individual fighter MORE than they like boxing as a whole...
Real fans of boxing usually like most fighters and just want to talk about boxing, whereas those that border on worship of a certain fighter spend all of their time advancing that, very personal, agenda and the arguments and namecalling invariably ensue...
To the OP's point, it has probably always been that way to some degree.

Are you surprised a board would begin to resemble a pile of sheet, when the sport in question has devolved into a pile of sheet? If we are being totally honest boxing is in a state of despair right now and is only getting worse.
Re: The slow demise of BoxRec's Current Scene forum
This afternoon I wrote a post discussing Wade as an opponent for GGG. After receiving a reply bit later I decided to continue the discussion and wrote another replay. When I tried to post it, forum crashed. It appeared that there was 2 pages of pissing contest unfolding while I was writing that one post. There was no point posting it anymore, it would just sink in the junk. A nice thread was essentially killed by a couple of immature trolls.
This can be easily kept under control by getting rid of the same small group of people that are always ruining it for everyone else.
