Frampton moving up is the chicken move.
Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
No its not. Rigo beat Filipino Flash, unified belts and emerge as the champion. Unless someone beats him he is the number one and only world champion in the division. Also he is ready to fight all these belt holders. Ducking is same as loosing in terms of who is the champion. Its like getting into finals, not turning up and claiming you are the champion because you did not loose. Only in boxing baby.Stuarty30 wrote:Sorry I thought he won the IBF and WBA titles? You said Rigo was the best in the division (which is your opinion btw) and also said 'Better to lose to a p4p than to another duck'. Perhaps I've picked you up wrong. I also appreciate a fighter for his achievements and IMO it's a better achievement to go up a division and take on a young hungry champion whilst possibly becoming a two weight world champion and earning loads more money in the process. I know what the vast majority of folk would do if faced with the same dilemma.
I would love to see the Rigo fight same as yourself but if Carl's struggling to make the weight and he can earn a lot more by stepping up then it's a no brainier for me. As you can probably guess I'm a big Frampton fan and if he were to stay at SuperBantam and fight anyone other than Rigo then I would agree that he's ducked the fight and deserves all the criticism that will no doubt come his way.
As for making weight just look at him man. Does he look like a featherweight to you? He is small as it is. He has a big fvcking head, I'll give him that, but his body is diminutive. No way he has problem making weight. Which FW he is going to beat? Leo? Selby? Loma? He better leave his tiny ass where it is. If he moves up he is finished. Mark my words.
I think he would beat LSC at feather yeah I do. Depending on what Lee Selby turns up then he does him too. Montiel gave him all he could handle and Carl is on a level above Fernando these days.
As for the weight. He's 29 years old and not the tallest but stocky and pure muscle. How do you How easy he makes the weight? Do you have inside knowledge? I'm just going by what I've read and heard. Just because he's a certain height doesn't necessarily mean he makes the weight easy. That isn't how it works.
Frampton is small, I can see it because I have eyes. He also seems fragile even in this weight. I made my prediction what happens if he moves up. Lets wait and see.

And we wont see it happen because the WBA and IBF champion won't face the man, widely considered to be, the best in the division.
Even if you are right and Frampton is number one, Rigondeaux is, without question, the best challenge in his weight class.
And Frampton and his team have openly admitted they don't want to face him

Not even his mother believes Frampton is number one in the division. And Barry McGuigan visibly wets himself each time Rigos name is mentioned.davie wrote: Even if you are right and Frampton is number one

Rigo and his team let themselves down with the Dickens fiasco. I agree that McGuigan and Framptons team don't seem too keen but Carl would fight Rigo without any problems. He's a fighter. Maybe he can make the weight easy, maybe he's struggling. Unless you have some sort of super power you can't tell by just looking at him. He's 29 and it inevitably gets harder to make weight as you get older. I'm just going by what I've read. You seem pretty confident in your assertion so we'll wait and see what he does next. If he fights Rigo then I'm happy. If he moves up to fight LSC or Selby then I'm also happy. If he were to stay at SuperBantam and take on say Shingo Wake for his IBF mandatory then questions should rightly be asked.
Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
I've heard McGuigan say some things indicating that he doesn't fancy it but I've never heard Carl say anything of the sort. If he has then it's disappointing. I actually think Carl beats Rigo especially in Belfast. I want to see the fight like everyone else but I'm also excited about the prospect of him moving up a division and facing the likes of LSC. From a neutral point of view it would make for a better fight.davie wrote:Stuarty30 wrote:

I'm not pretending at all. I always try to be as impartial as possible when posting on here. Cant argue with that at all, it was a major fiasco. Thats why I actually dont mind a Shingo Wake defense, while Rigo is sorting himself out. Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
Usually I would agree about the mandatory situation but the IBF have thrown up some strange ones lately. Wake isn't a bad defence but Frampton has a lot of options at the moment and no disrespect to Wake but that fight seems the safest IMO. I'm a great believer in striking while the irons hot plus Carl hasn't looked anything special his last two fights.Tarkus wrote:Cant argue with that at all, it was a major fiasco. he won't care about the belt because he never wanted to right guillermo anyway
but yes, LSC would be no easy fight for frampton and as hes been stripped and not fighting Rigo then this should definitely be his next bout
Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
IBF has some of the worst rankings out there, take their 140 for example. However if Carl vacates his "genuaine" belt he wont be able to call himself a champ, while lot of people will see him as a genuine chickenson.Stuarty30 wrote: Usually I would agree about the mandatory situation but the IBF have thrown up some strange ones lately. A duck is a duck. Only in boxing will you hear fans talk about what the participants earn and 'taking a smarter ( easier ) route' as being genuine reasons for avoiding a fight.Oiky wrote:yeah agree with you regards to the money and a short career, but for me a duck is a duck.Stuarty30 wrote:He'd get a lot more money fighting LSC. Why fans care so much about a fighters earnings I'll never know, personally I'd rather see fighters fight the best available. Especially "champions"

I'd like to find out how good Rigo is, if he's as good as I think he is.
The best way to gauge that would be seeing him in with the best. That happens to be Frampton.
I'd also like to know if Frampton is the best SBW in the world and the obvious way to test that is see him in with Rigo
If he goes up in weight it's because LSC represents a bit pay day, Selby represents a big payday and Quigg probably chases him for another big pay day.
Will he fight Lomachenko or will he be too high risk/low reward. Will he fight Rigo if he follows him up?
Will he prove he's the best at feather? Because he hasn't proven he's the man at SBW.
Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
I don't really give two hoots about anyone's earnings a part from my own but the point I was trying to make is that you can see why they would take a certain fight if there was a lot more money on offer. I know that's what I would do. It's a dangerous game and every fight is potentially your last so taking the most money is the smart thing to do. LSC at feather is a dangerous fight and it would be a far better fight to watch than with Rigo. That being said I'd love for him to fight Rigo and shut him up.lillywhite14 wrote:A duck is a duck. I agree yeah. I'd love to see him fight Rigo. The Rigo fight isn't happening anytime soon by the looks of it so unless he goes up to feather I'll be pretty disappointed. There's no point hanging around fighting Wake. Can't see his team taking the Lomachenko fight for the same reason they've not taken on Rigo. This is just what happens nowadays in boxing. There's better fighters than Frampton that do the exact same thing. We all want to see the best fight the best but money talks. IMO Rigo and his team have made a rod for their own back.davie wrote:Stuarty30 wrote:

Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
Wake's team have said that Frampton's side have been ignoring the calls to negotiate (which began March 27th) so sounds like he's ready to vacate/be stripped of that one too.
Re: Frampton Stripped of WBA title
I'm not surprised that Carl has been stripped of the WBA Title, I just find it very interesting that the WBA are being so strict with him - despite the fact that they were so lenient with Quigg for 28 months and allowing him to fight anyone that he so fancied.
