The Big Con Job

A lot of people are going to make a lot of money tonight, for the biggest 'con' job in British boxing history. The O2 is sold out and thousands will buy the PPV. Well done all concerned up to this point. But...........

Martin will take a dive' at the first opportunity, he'll roll about and 'stumble' to his feet just as the ref counts him out. He'll then protest as Joshua and his entourage celebrate. This may happen either in the first or second round ,and EVERYONE watching will recognise what happened. Next week, the national press will again question the validity of professional boxing in this country, while Martin leaves the UK with millions of our cash - and who can blame him. Eddie Hearn will then consider carefully how he'll present Joshua as a 'world' champion after this disgrace.

By the way the odds are 7/1 on a first round KO and 6/1 for round two or three. I'm buying the grandchildren some toys on the proceeds !!!

Barry Topkins, I believe, uttered the words "and we have a new era in boxing" after Tyson demolished Berbick (I have wrongly attributed that quote to Lampley in the past). The boys at Sky will be wrestling with each other to be the one to state the equivalent tonight.

that will be fairly nauseating. the aftermath, the 'who can make the biggest historical parallel' competition. FFS, i'm going off the idea of watching this at all.

I have to agree mate, how Martin even got a title shot is beyond me, the fact he is champ is a joke. Easy win for AJ with the first hard punch he lands.

No not really. Of course it only takes one punch to win a fight, and there's always that possibility for Martin, but I can't see him getting lucky. All the pundits who work for Sky and those linked to the fight will of course try their hardest to make it sound like a tough fight.

I hear what you are saying but I doubt it will be a dive. Joshua will knock him out without any issue in either round 1 or 2, but i doubt it will go longer. If my horse comes in at the National im putting everything on the round 1 double with Benn in that bet.

I usually cheer for the British fighters but fornicate Joshua and his idiot fans. Unfortunately Martin is utter crap so I can't see anything but a quick Joshua KO... which unfortunately will then have the commentary team sucking Joshua dry. Hopefully they remember to wipe his jizz off their lips when they're done.

That's a joke right? Of course not, it's Barry Hearn. Still, it's an utter disgrace, even for a promoter. But what really peeves me about these occasions is the way so-called boxing journalists buy into the hype. The hypocrisy is hard to stomach. They're the same people who complain about the proliferation of world championship belts, and long for the days when everyone knew who the world champion is, yet when these fights come about they jump onboard the bandwagon, file their adulatory crap, and assist in the obfuscation of what's really going in the world of boxing.

The fact that Martin holds a world title is an utter abomination, the occasion should be treated for what it is: a fight for Fury's stolen world title. The winner (Joshua) should do the right thing and give the belt back to it's owner.

I'm so cynical these days I'm getting bored of the cynics. Joshua is in with an unknown quantity tonight. We give fighters so much stick for fighting stiffs and no-names, and then we get a title fight like this. Joshua is green, and Martin is no better, this is a shootout and I don't doubt for a second Martin has come here to win, and I don't think he's going over easy. Yes it's a cynical title buy by Matchroom but Joshua has to win this, Martin isn't going to give the IBF over for money. I quite fancy the upset too, if Martin gets out of round three he'll win this.

How many fights do you need to watch to determine whether a man is inept or not? He isn't competent enough to qualify as mediocre.
