How Martin got even close to the belt???

Post by bigman1968 »

Please explain me how after winning non-rated bums (#100+), Martin got championship fight?

Even corruption usually has something with reality...

They were trying to give it to Glazkov. It's a sham, the belt belongs to Fury.

Which is why I'm glad Martin won it. Plus Glazkov didn't want to fight Fury.

Glazkov at least was in the ring with couple or three rated guys...but from where IBF pulled Martin?

It was shady, no doubt. But it's not Martin's fault as he looked as surprised as the rest of us walking out of that ring with the belt. I love how he's taking such a tough fight right out of the gate. We all may end up liking this kid.

Nothing to love here...he is cashing out his luck.

Joshua is the biggest purse now;-)

I agree. But I just like the way Martin reacted after winning it the way he did. He wasn't even happy because he wanted to fight. I bet he'll give Joshua a good fight.

I have nothing against Martin as a person, I don't know him...suppose he is a good guy.

The question is - why the ffff he got a fight on IBF belt???

It's a joke that Fury was stripped in the first place. Let alone Martin and Glazkov of all people somehow being given a shot at the belt.

Agreed. The belt belongs to Fury. Stripping Fury that quickly was disgusting even by boxing's low standards.

Having said that, I'm glad Martin is moving up and fighting top guys. The Glaskov "fight" was an unfortunate fluke. We should know in a few hours if Martin is a top guy.

Wouldn't it be better to make more with an easy voluntary first?

If Martin can (at least) lose in a competitive and exciting manner he will be cashing in for the foreseeable future.

It's hard to find easy opponent for him...the one whom someone will be ready to pay to watch:-o

He is likely to loose to any middle-rated boxer:-/

This fight is a disgrace:@

You mean the fact they're calling it a title is a disgrace? Or the fight itself is a disgrace?

If it's the later, with all due respect I think that opinion is quite odd.

It happens pretty much non stop if you look at www.premierboxingorganisation.com/heavyweight-200 or any division you can see lots of fighters who have just beaten top 100 fighters and are highly rated by the organisations.

A non top 100 fighter is just given a W The numbers relate to the independent pre fight ranking of the opponent.

Again, it was so that Glazkov wouldn't have to face someone difficult. Glazkov already drew with Malik Scott, robbed Cunningham, and robbed Derrick Rossy. The IBF were trying to hand the title to him against an easy opponent.

Yep. If IBF had hot contenders who could beat Fury, and he was ducking them, then it would be a right decision. But to strip a good champion just to give the title to whoever is ridiculous.

TBH I'm very happy Martin threaded the belt the way he should. Fight the best availeble opponend out there and don't select bums as much as possible. I have more respect for Martin, as for Wilder for example.

The only one who deserves respect is Martin's manager.

Having low class boxer he made him millionaire without throwing single reasonable punchB-)
