You figure wrong.

Joshua beat a no mark at world level.

Joshua is very much unproven at the top level.
I'm aware of that. Tyson Fury doesn't impress me.

Forget unification.

Too much money to be made defending individual titles.
Ultimately there isn't anybody to unify with available for a while anyway.

The path most new 1st time champions take is a few easy money makers unless they have a tough mandatory straight away. Billy Joe is doing it, Flanagan is doing it. Joshua will probably do it until he has to fight Pulev. Then if he comes through that then I expect the unifications will come around this time next year or summer next year assuming the Pulev fight is this winter time.

What made you think that?

It was genius matchmaking because we all felt Martin wasn't up to it.

Thankfully for Team AJ, Martin proved it.

This.
Reckless? You're giving Martin far too much credit.
How can you say that? Martin was the ibf heavyweight champion of the world!

The IBF is a safer title to hold than the British title.

Sensible matchmaking.

Martin is a no mark.

AJ's now up there with other British sporting greats like Martin 'Wolfie' Adams. We should all be proud to be Great Britain tonight!

But I think Joshua is Fury's worst nightmare.
Joshua is a big stiff idiot and Fury would play with him.
Steve Cunningham had enough pop to put Fury on his back. Joshua will keep him there.

How? He was a legit top ten boxer, yet still a relatively unknown quantity.

Really hope Joshua vs Fury is close with the bookies.

Nothing has changed, Joshua still destroys him.

They paid the money and got to Martin first. Smart move, must have been Barry's idea

Happy for AJ. Real shame the IBF was stripped off Fury as makes it a bit empty. I was bouncing round room when Fury won it. This was a little of an anti climax compared to Fury's win, but still great to see.

Worth pointing out that a few fights ago people were saying AJ was only fighting can's (yeah I know Martin was no World Beater) but now he's just won a share of the WChampionship (albeit in unsatisfactory circumstances with IBF).

I have Heavies as:
1) Fury
2) AJ
3) Povetkin (could take out AJ, but the reach difference is significant).
4) Wilder
5) WK (retire at top after Fury fight either way)
NB - am not sure how to rate Ortiz as 37 now and fringe of being in WC mix.

Eddie Hearn's speech just now made me want to be sick in my mouth.
