Bruce Seldon for me. But martin is up there for sure. Oh since 2000. There are some bad ones.gilgamesh wrote:I can't remember what section it was in, but there was a thread recently asking who was the Worst Titleholder at Heavyweight since 2000. I voted for Briggs, but after today I'd definitely go with Charles Martin. Martin looked terrible.

Oh yes, it makes all kinds of sense!lillywhite14 wrote:He won't need to fight or work another day in his life. Rumour has it he picked up a cool £5m tonight for his troubles. For a guy at his skill level and ability though, this is the absolute best thing that could happen financially. He is now an ex-title holder and a name opponent, and can cash in for the next few years by getting smoked by prospects.
He is extremely raw, still picking up his feet when he throws and lacking good movement. His people knew what they had, cashed out and he now holds that title of "ex-champ" that can land him a few more good paydays. His IBF ranking will be worth a lot to some of the up and comers.
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
Wow, I guess we learned a lot about Martin. He looked like crap and Joshua looked great. I really screwed up that pick, oh well.
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
Martin is a class guy though and a nice guy. He even gave an honest interview after the fight. He seems like he is a good guy.

Well you are from the USA it's not your fault.
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
That has nothing to do with the fight honestly. He just was not good enough. Not much else to be said.Rexob wrote:Lancenix wrote:Martin is a class guy though and a nice guy. He even gave an honest interview after the fight. He seems like he is a good guy.

AJ is an offensive juggrrnaut. Admiittedly he hasn't defeated a top opponent, but I can't see many people coping with his attack and he'll probably just get better.
It may be a case of having to take him out beforr he can land something meaningful.

Also, try to avoid fighting opponents who are vastly superior and who will beat the sh*t out of you.kaiserbill wrote:Do NOT fight in Britain.
I thought this was well understood.

I disagree the best way would be nullify his offense and take him into deep waters then drowned him late on. Only one person is going to do that and his name = Tyson Fury!
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
I can't see too many people nullifying that offense though . Fury may have the best shot.

I agree. Fury is a totally different animal.Rexob wrote:crusader wrote:AJ is an offensive juggrrnaut. Admiittedly he hasn't defeated a top opponent, but I can't see many people coping with his attack and he'll probably just get better.

Exactly! The dude cashes in, stays in bed on Monday morning, ponders what to do with the new found wealth.lillywhite14 wrote:He won't need to fight or work another day in his life. I'm thinking emotional concern from the loss will rapidly evaporate and when he steps outside, the sun will look brighter and feel warmer than ever before.
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
I think AJ would beat Fury. He's not just a very big puncher, he's got a good range of shots inside and out, puts them together well in combo rather than being a purely 1, 1-2 guy, and isn't hesitant like Wlad. Fury would probably have his moments, but I don't think he'd outbox AJ without eventually getting caught and seriously hurt, and I don't think he has the chin to endure major punishment and come back to best AJ.

Hahahaha. Do not get hyped. Martin is a bum who is worse than Chisora or Molina. He is on same level as Gavern. This fight showed notting about aj. He fought better guys
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
A fighter's ability isn't determined by their resume. AJ hasn't beaten anyone like Fury, just like Fury hadn't beaten anyone like Wlad, but I think he has the tools to.

Martin was up at ten and ready to continue and the round was almost over. More boxing bs.

He was laughing and looking at the ref but when he finally was getting up his body was not there with him at all. Both of his gloves looked to be on the canvas when the ref said ten. I like all doubt to be given to the fighter every time. To me, he was done. He should have got up in a more coherent fashion. That fight was over.x2x wrote:Martin was up at ten and ready to continue and the round was almost over. More boxing bs.
Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
Fury Joshua would be a chess match of styles and wills. Fury can be touched up with looping punches. Cunningham proved that and if Joshua would land that kind of shot it would be lights out!! But Fury is not easy to plan against. It would be interesting.crusader wrote:A fighter's ability isn't determined by their resume. Correct my own comment about the round being almost over - there must have been over a minute to go - but it is not the referee's job to stop a fight prematurely - unless that is what he was paid to do. Martin looked OK. He took too long to get up but he was up at ten and looked ready and able to continue. You can see it here and judge for yourself:

Re: Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua
Looked a little premature to me, but by a fairly normal amount, you don't leave it that late to get up. Get up by 8.
Ok, talk me through what he has shown that could keep him range of Fury? That's the big thing he has to show, he's shown neither the upper nor lower body movement to win, to my knowledge. He may have it and just not shown it, but just having faith isn't particularly convincing. Everything Fury used agains Wlad hehad shown already, to an extent.crusader wrote:A fighter's ability isn't determined by their resume. Who the fornicate has Joshua fought? Martin is a total bum. Go watch him against Zumbabo Love. Martin is even worse than Gavern or Firtha rofl.
Wilder was also knocking those bums with one shots and even more brutaly. How you can even fornicating compare novice boxer Joshua against Fury rofl?
Your analysis was based on fight against Martin who is a total bum? Pls. Martin is not even top 50

It does not matter that he was OK. He did not get his ass off the mat.x2x wrote:Lancenix wrote:He was laughing and looking at the ref but when he finally was getting up his body was not there with him at all.
