VIPBoxing.com News.... Okine out!!!!

Post by Stegsie »

Joshua Okine - Has pulled out of this Sundays Commonwealth final eliminator for the Welterweight tittle claiming an ankle injury. Rumours that he was not in training have been circulating for a while now and we cannot make any further comments as we are pushing the Council for Ali Nuumembee to be placed straight into the mandatory position.

Ali Nuumembee - Still fights on the show with an International contest against Sergi Starkov who is flying in from Siberia as we work on the show. Starkov has been to these shores many times and although not a winner has never been stopped by Bambi, Barnes, Anderson , Morrison , Hare etc. If Ali can stop him then that would be a nice statement in his push for a mandatory crack at champion Kevin Anderson.

GEORGE CARNELL LEISURE CENTRE SHOW ON SUNDAY 12TH FEBRUARY - BOXING AT 2.00 PM ( Doors 1.00pm)

Apart from the change to the top of the bill the show stands as per reported last week , plus the following contest has been added to cover the withdrawal of Alex Mattvienko.

Johno Rocco v Tye Williams.

Tickets priced £20.00 and £40.00 ringside will be available on the doors - despite loosing what was without doubt the best non TV fight for a long time , the show is still good value with 7 fights including some good prospects.

Shame for Ali, hopefully they will be able to get him the mandatory slot against Anderson

would like to see Nuumembee getting involved with the top British boys as I think he could have the beating of most of them and seems like a top bloke

Ali should be made mandatory now, I think.

Not his fault and saves any more messing around.

When you become the arbiter of what is and isn't newsworthy on this board is the day we all should pack in.

I wish your father had pulled out and saved us all a lot of boredom.

bad news for ali who's a real class guy,did find it hard to see how the promotor was going to make the show pay as no tv money would presumably mean shit purses for both.is this the reason for the pull out i wonder?i will still be there to cheer ali on. :box:

Wrong, Okine was on very good money, they were very happy with what they were being paid and also signed the contract.

Not exactly sure what the reason is yet, but they have certainly fcuked us about.

Big respect to Steve Wood for keeping the show on and letting the lads earn a living.

He could have scrapped the show, but he didn't.

Only a nasty, penny pinching, miserable, parsimonious, stingy, cantankerous, tight fisted, snake of a promoter would do a thing like that.
