Who is the worst HW champion since 2000?
Charles Martin's performance yesterday compelled me to make this thread.

Totally bullshit way to win a vacant title, made vacant in a totally bullshit fashion, then a totally pathetic first, and only, defence makes Martin THE worst title holder in the past 16 years, fuckit, in the past 30 years. Guy couldn't carry Witherspoon's or Morrison's jock strap, makes Holmes look like THE #1 ATG, likeHarry Greb's and Sugar Ray Robbinson's love child
Re: Who is the worst HW champion since 2000?
Holmes isn't far off #1 without Martin

It has to be Martin. Last night was like watching Audley Harrison.

Yes, it was a lot like Audley vs. Haye.Lenny Cravats wrote:It has to be Martin. Last night was like watching Audley Harrison.

I would have included Ibragimov in the poll. Would've left Valuev or Haye off.
Either way, Charles Martin is the winner for me. He entered his championship fight ranked at like #35, only won due to random knee injury, and then lost his first defense in pathetically dominant fashion to a (admittedly underrated) guy who was ranked like #15ish at the time. Not a single other opponent of value on his entire resume. It's actually not possible to concoct a worse titlist, except maybe if Glazkov slipped and fell during the referee's instructions prior to the fight.

It is unfair to force us to select only one. There are so many deserving ones in this list

Martin certainly has time to better stiverne. He lost to the first heavyweight that looks the goods for decades.

Glazkov never held a world title.Lackeos wrote:I would have included Ibragimov and Glazkov in the poll. Would've left Valuev and Haye off.
Ibragimov is actually a very underrated heavyweight.
Valuev wasn't good, he was just big and as slow as a snail. Haye was as bad for choosing old, shot opponents as Wilder.

I've voted for Martin probably because he is the latest, but he is definitely worth a shout.
He's a poor fighter & should have been nowhere near a 'world title' fight.
Anthony Joshua did what he should have & did it well, but he has to be the luckiest fighter for many years to have someone like Charles Martin holding a trinket when he was given a chance to challenge for it.

Some of them have nearly brought tears to my eyes.
Re: Who is the worst HW champion since 2000?
Charles Martin by a country mile and probably the second or 3rd richest in that list, after last night.
Re: Who is the worst HW champion since 2000?
I had a tough time deciding between Martin and Valuev, but I went with Valuev. Wilder would be a ridiculous pick for worst.

Martin is the worst heavyweight champion ever.

I don't see how Valuev is worse than Ruiz and Liakhovich when he beat Ruiz and Liakhovich.Tony1244 wrote:I had a tough time deciding between Martin and Valuev, but I went with Valuev. Wilder would be a ridiculous pick for worst.

Valuev won some fights in the same way a heavy bag does. Valuev looked like he was literally sleepwalking on medication against Holyfield.
But, ok, those guys were pretty bad too.

Martin and stiverne are the definitive top 2.

No the worst ever at any weight was Satoshi Shingaki.
