Is there anywhere to confirm the £5m purse? Sounds like a shitload of dough.

I doubt he actually received that amount. I bet he got more to the near £1m mark at tops. However still a decent wage for 4 minutes work. His mother worked harder giving birth to him.

To be fair, his mum gave birth to a child that grew to be a 6'5" 240lb man.
She probably worked harder than any fighter ever has.

I'd say it's a tad disrespectful to child bearing women everywhere to say otherwise

He can only beat who sparkly bollux puts in front of him. Martin was a joke belt holder but on paper AJs biggest test and he despatched him with relative ease. Hopefully it'll be the Parker v Takam winner near the end of the year. That's a good test (on paper again). His first defence should be a durable type like Stiverne.

He probably did think he had some kind of chance but once he got in there and realized how good AJ is, he was happy to collect his 5 million and go home. He's made enough money to retire happily and live very comfortably. I don't think it's fair to say he didn't think he would win - he was up against a stiff 15 fight novice after all. But I think his mentality was, "win or lose, im happy with the 5 mill"
Oh come on.... He's hardly Einstein for being offered 5 mill and taking it. I'd take 1 mill or even less to be knocked out by Joshua.... Anyone disagreeing is either a coward or hasnt thought it through properly.
eff it, I'd take 50 grand... Just to be made unconscious? No problem
There's a fair chance you might be made dead.

The problem for me is that I quite like AJ. I know the Sky interviewed guy is not the real him and the IFL interviewed guy is closer to the real him and I get that without boxing, he would still be following a life of crime, but I still think he is ok and could be a star of the future. I know people who work with him and they tell me that he is humble, down to earth, relaxed and very composed.

BUT the problem is Hearn. He is such an utter fcktard that I always want to see his boys smashed just to knock the smug look off his face. So unlikeable. I am almost cheering against AJ as I hate Hearn so much.

As soon as Glazkov twisted his knee there was a world title up for sale to the highest bidder. 5 million doesn't sound like that much to buy it.

No disrespect to Joshua but he is champion now because he had the most money behind him. Pretty much every fighter in any sort of contention was going to beat martin. He was originally chosen as someone Glazkov couldn't possibly lose to.

I had a read round Google after my post and found something saying more like £2.5m, but didn't see anything saying anything about £5m except hyperbole from Fast Eddie. I reckon £2.5m sounds more likely, but who knows, it's heavyweight boxing and the big fights will bring in the huge dough down the line.
