Douglas was a very good, seasoned and experienced fighter who came from cast iron fighting stock in his old man, Billy Douglas. He was well schooled in the sport but his heart and desire were in question throughout his career but he did have some good names on his resume with wins and losses which showed how good he could be, as well as that weakness as he fought Tony Tucker, Oliver McCall, Greg Page, Mike White, Jesse Ferguson, Tex Cobb, a debuting David Bey, Steffan Tungsted (who fought Spinks for this same IBF title), Mike Williams (Union Cane from Rocky 5 I think ), then Douglas beat the unified, seemingly unbeatable Mike Tyson in one of the most famous fights and biggest upsets in the history of the sport.
I do not think that has much in common with Charles Martin![]()
Even the original post makes it obvious it's a joke.....
Charles Martin Is The 21st Century Buster Douglas

No comparison at all - A motivated Buster Douglas would unify the division - would certainly beat Martin and Wilder. Remember he was beating Tony Tucker before mysteriously quitting, okay he didn't do a no mas but he just seemed to lose any fight. His odds against Tyson were always ridiculous, much more talented than 1/40. His performance against Holyfield was a disgrace, but he clearly enjoyed being champ.
Martin is useless.
Martin is useless.

Terrible comparison, obviously.
By the way, if the numbers are correct, what on earth was Hearn doing offering Martin £5 million??? Jesus, Joshua didn't need Martin at all. Is he even going to make a tenth of that from any other fight???

Martin didn't have any part of the world title.
Tyson Fury is the linear undisputed champ.
The Martin v Joshua fight was a non title fight.
the presence of whatever alphabet body is utterly meaningless.
making a comparison with Buster Douglas is silly

Martin is not fit to change Douglas's diapers when he was 450lbs and comatosed in hospital.

Gives him leverage for future negotiations having a belt.Riddick Blowe wrote:Terrible comparison, obviously.

I'm not sure I believe that figure, where is it from precisely?

I read $8m in an article about the fight last Friday.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Gives him leverage for future negotiations having a belt.Riddick Blowe wrote:Terrible comparison, obviously.

No idea who wrote it or how they came to know this amount which is why I started a thread "Charlie Martin's Purse" to see if anyone had any reliable info.
Others have said $3.5m.

Even that seems too much. Either Martin's team are incredible negotiators, or Hearn is a terrible businessman and just plucked a number out of his arse.

Or is he? What is the belt financially worth to Hearn & Joshua?Riddick Blowe wrote:Even that seems too much. Either Martin's team are incredible negotiators, or Hearn is a terrible businessman and just plucked a number out of his arse.

If you read the original post you'll see it's obviously a piss take.
But, if you're a big fan of the Daily Mail I can see why you are outraged, OUTRAGED, by everything you read on the internet.
