Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I'm more excited about Povetkin-Wilder than the fury rematch.
The thought of Wilder fighting a top operator in Moscow gets me really excited.
Huge fan of both and it's a great fight. Add the Russian backdrop it becomes Rocky 4.

Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
Yes but for none of the reasons above.
I don't hate Wilder, I don't think he's very good but I don't hate him. I do dislike his fans though. But the guy himself I'm indifferent too. I do enjoy watching his fights though, they are always exciting... largely because of how limited Wilder is so even chumps like Szpilka and Molina can give a good showing against him.

I don't see how any boxing fan can't be excited by this fight because it's very unpredictable. Don't also see why someone would hate Wilder's fans.
Even if Wilder gets KOd in 1, it was a nice run.
I've been a fan of a lot of undefeated fighters who eventually get stopped. You move on...

Everyone who predicts politics or sports regularly will be wrong quite a bit.
Anyone who says otherwise is lying about themselves.
Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I picked Fury to clearly beat Klitschko too.. I couldn't have cared less about that fight, I just like needling all the pompous Brits on here. You wanna know what I've learned refer to Kevin Kline in "A Fish Called Wanda" that's where I learned foreign relations.Baby Face Finster wrote:Didn't you also say that Martin was going to beat Joshua? Of course everyone gets picks wrong but being blunt in your prediction is bound to bring backlash. If Wilder gets stretched and there is a very good chance that he could will make him look ridiculous for saying Wilder will beat the poo out of Povetkin. If he truly thinks this is a foregone conclusion then he should profit from it and bet some serious money on the outcome and not simply try to wind people up because if the outcome backfires on him you can bet people will come on here to ridicule his bold prediction.Tony1244 wrote:Baby Face Finster wrote:Didn't you also say that Martin was going to beat Joshua? Not excited, but I'm definitely going to watch. No way I'm enduring another round of Fury and Wlad doing vogue poses like a Madonna concert.

Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I dislike him because of the way he selected his opponends and the things he says.
Why does he occuse Povetkin of using PEDs? It's just sad... Why does he claim it was Povetkin who needs more time, while it was clearly Wilder who chose for the 19 year old and when he realised it was too risky, chose Duhaupas anyway? Why does he have to fight 25 differend opponends, and all of them so bad, that he could easely KO every single one of them within 3 rounds before he fights anyone in the boxrec top 100?
I mean, yes you can have a missmatch, and even 3, 4 or 5 but 25!??!! Seriously what's that? Deontay Wilder his opponend during his 25th fight had a boxrec rating of 2, that gives you a rank... Well, lower as 500 in every case. What's the point of that after 25KO's?
And then he and the people around him say he's the best boxer of the world :s?! Because of what? Because of a belt Vitali gave away? For beating Duhaupas? Beating Szpilka? Stiverne? I mean really, who have they ever beaten?
And then saying to Joshua, if you're ready to step up I'll fight you! Knowing he first has to fight Povetkin, so the fight coudn't happen... Which is pretty much the only reason why he said it because he even managed to avoid Briggs who scared him. And guess what? He said it at a moment Joshua fought more boxrec top 100 opponends as Deontay Wilder has?!
For me Wilder is just and arrogant actor, but I'd have to admit, I expected him to have even more trouble with Szpilka as he eventually had and was about the only one who actually gave Duhaupas a chance, I allways admitted Wilder had the odds, but I really thought Duhaupas had a 35% chance.
I must say with this, that Povetkin clearly downgraded in the past year, I've seen him against Wach and then saw the Joshua-Whyte fight, and both Joshua and Whyte clearly seemed better, no matter how low Whyte is currently ranked.

Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I like them both.
I openly admit to being critical of Wilder as I think the match making for him so far has been shocking.
but I always said if he takes the Povetkin fight, which I thought he'd duck, I'd give him credit.
He's taken it and done so in Russia, the guy gets my well deserved praise and I wish him all the best.
I do like the guy, I do think he has ability but I still highly rate Povetkin and think Alexander wins this in impressive fashion.
But i'll just look forward to what should be a thoroughly entertaining fight between a dangerous come forward fighter and a big dangerous boxer with genuine power.

Certainly agree with your first sentence. It's not my style to be so bold on a fight like this. Anything can happen which is why I am "excited" about the fight.Baby Face Finster wrote:Of course everyone gets picks wrong but being blunt in your prediction is bound to bring backlash. Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I'm really excited about this fight. A lot of questions will be answered about Wilder in this fight. Personally I think he has all the tools to beat Povetkin, but Povetkin is as tough as they come. I wouldn't be surprised by any result and I think it will be really exciting fight.

Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
Very intriguing. I have no idea who will win.
Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
..It's pretty much the first real test for Wilder...would like to know if he's the real deal...
Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I'm more excited about it than any other fight that's happened thus far this year. I think Povetkin is gonna spark him. I don't hate Wilder, but I hate the fact that he's fought pretty much the softest competition possible for his entire career, and I look forward to seeing him sparked for it.
Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I cant say im excited, but it will surely be a good benchmark test of wilder as povetkin seems to be one of the most respected heavies here on boxrec. And i believe ring magazine has povetkin and wilder as conterders no.2 and 3 respectively.
From what ive seen and based on age id have to favour wilder, but of course povetkin has the experience on his side.

Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I see the decline in Povetkin he is on the downside, and he will be eating the jab all night. Klitschko toyed with Pov with the jab and Wilder will too. I bet one or both guys hit the deck in the first two rounds. If Deontay protects his body, he will win. If Povetkin gets inside consistently, he probably wins.

Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I think whoever draws blood first has a good chance of winning. Both are big launchers so there's going to be danger for both guys. Wilder is for real but we don't know if he is in a Fury/Wlad league. Povetkin is for real, so a win for Wilder would be huge. Povetkin wins, he'd be better off against Fury who isn't as disciplined as Wlad.

Very.........I want Wilder to kick Povetkin ass so all his loyal fans on boxrec shut up and over rating this guy.
Re: Are you excited about Wilder-Povetkin fight?
I'm not a fan of Povetkin or Wilder, I just think Povetkin is the better fighter of the two, and I'm confident he wins that fight.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Very.........I want Wilder to kick Povetkin ass so all his loyal fans on boxrec shut up and over rating this guy.
