Lee Selby vs Eric Hunter

Post by handsofstone »

i know ive seen Hunter before,i recognise the name,i cant remember when, surely propping up the undercards on ESPN no doubt, his record looks ok,a couple of his losses have been DQ's,he has decent power by the looks of things and sounds confident going by the interviews ive read so lets hope he gives it a good go

Selby was dissapointing against Montiel last time out in America,i know Fernando is an experienced fighter and a former multiple weight champ but i expected Lee to beat him with ease but he struggled at times even though he was a deserved winner, hopefully it was just a bit of complacency and he's back to his best this weekend

Looking forward to it,i like watching Selby he's a class act and should have too much for Hunter and i'll say wide UD although as i said i cant remember much about Eric

I fancy Selby by stoppage.

With Hunters losses coming via DQ I've got a feeling he's not the best when things aren't going his way.

Hopefully it's vintage Selby Saturday and he boxes his head off.

When Selby is on form he's a good watch. Makes difficult things look effortless. As mentioned above, Hunter looks a bit of a dirty fecker looking at his record so could try and rough Selby up. I'm sure he'll win but I hope he looks good in doing so as there's some good names in the division for him.

I think we have a couple of very good Feathers to look forward to being on the world scene over the next few years, I rate all of Selby, Warrington and Wood as very good.

I can see them making Selby-Warrington in the summer provided they both win.

Seems to early for Warrington, maybe 18 months time. I'd be shocked if it was this summer.

Warrington or Frampton would be great fights next for Selby...

The ref in this fight needs some training on how to conduct himself during a fight and after a fight the way he carried on waving his arm's and pointing because Hunter didn't stand next to him before the dec was announced was a joke I hope he sees a replay of himself and realises what a goose he his.

I thought Hunter was decent, skilful and quick but as mentioned in commentary, just a lazy guy.

Selby just put the more work in and landed the most clean punches. Not sure where I stand with Selby at the mo, seems to be blowing hot and cold and still not totally proven at world level for me.

I can't help think if he was offensive like late on earlier, and kept the pressure he would've done much better. Thing is do you think with a higher work rate he'd look as skillfull, would he get caught more? Later on his reflexes weren't quite as sharp, so even being fit a high workrate could still tire him enough to make his reflexes duller. Can't really know I guess.

Hunter looks to have some talent but clearly doesnt have the right attitude to succeed in such a tough sport.
Selby put in a solid, workman like performance, stylewise i dont think this is the type of opponent for him, but he won comfortably in the end.
Ref was a bit of a joke, on Hunters case before the fight even began, can't disagree with the point deduction but his overall demeanor throughout the fight was unprofessional.

Hunter is talented but has the mentality of a 5 year old girl, wining and complaining.

The shot he put Selby down with was classy and he showed glimpses of his ability throughout the 12 rounds, but just didn't work hard enough. Then throwing his toys out his pram every time something didn't go his way was embarrassing.
