Gerber would be a good opponent. Cornish would be a step down whereas Gerber is on about the same level as the guys Hughie should be facing at the moment.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
Whoever is cheapest out of that lot.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
big fan of Hughie furys technical ability
but his opponent on the 30th will be worse than average again

That's what I was told, but they erred on the side of caution by saying they're looking at a few options.wesshaw1985 wrote:http://www.BS.com/hughie-fury- ... ng--102970

Wonder how many times you'll have to change the thread title between now and April 30th, given the amount of names that get announced then mysteriously 'pull out' I reckon 5 - 6 title changes at least?

You're probably right there, and I suspect the mooted names will be less inspiring with every title changewesshaw1985 wrote:30 days to go, could be a few more times than that my friend...

Christian Hammer was the last man to fight for the title against Tyson Fury, hopefully W@rren can line Hammer up again for Hughie...

David Price is looking to come back. Hughie can't punch, so it's a good option for Price, and Hughie hasn't been punched, so it's a good test.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
He should offer Anthony Joshua a fight for that night.
Smart business sense.

Hard to criticise when you see David Haye fight a guy off twitter then a chap who even anoraks like us have never heard of. His surname looks like a scrabble players worst nightmare.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
Won't happen but I'd like to see him box Andy Ruiz.

Has he fought zumbano Love yet? It's going to be a journeyman in my opinion.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
he will be fighting somebody we never heard of again id say but Hughie is a very good prospect

You can't disagree with this!Wales wrote:Hard to criticise when you see David Haye fight a guy off twitter then a chap who even anoraks like us have never heard of. His surname looks like a scrabble players worst nightmare.
Hughie is 21 and Davd Haye a 2 weight world champion is fighting lesser opponents.
It's a given that Hughie's opponent will be at least the equal of Haye's May opponent.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
The ironic thing is if Hugie fought a sequence of De Mori, Bosnian/Swiss las with impressive name and then Briggs I think most reasonable people would say that was good progress for a 21 good prospect. Not so much for a two weight world champ close to his prime thoughMaxsplit wrote:You can't disagree with this!Wales wrote:Hard to criticise when you see David Haye fight a guy off twitter then a chap who even anoraks like us have never heard of. @peterfury @hughiefury better in your view than the last one? A step up again?
peter fury. @peterfury 29 minutes ago
@DannyFlexen @hughiefury not seen him yet.
How can Peter not have seen the fighter he is putting his son up against? Surely they've looked at him stylewise, etc?!?
That doesn't bode well for it being someone good.
I was hoping for a Gerber/Charr/Aguilerra level opponent.
Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
Because he isn't the matchmaker, Jason McClory most likely will have done all that then picked out the opponent.JohnH wrote:This is a twitter chat somebody had with Peter Fury yesterday.

Re: Hughie Fury vs. ??? - April 30th 2016
I'd either like to see an experienced guy who is durable and is a fringe level gate keeper type like Rossy or Aguillerra or a more ambitious, although more technically limited, type European who can punch a bit like a Gerber or Saglam.
Hughie is so young he can really be built slowly but steadily. He's a long way away from top level guys like Povetkin, Wilder, Haye, Fury, Ortiz, Jennings, Wlad, Parker, Takam, etc. There are loads ifs guys out there he could fight for the British (Cornish, Sexton, Allen, Towers), Commonwealth (De Mori, Carmen what's his name, etc) and European (Chisora, Price, White, numerous Polish guys, Gerber, Wallish, Rill, Helenius). He could box guys like that for three years, improving all the time and be in some decent fights collecting relevant titles. Zero rush whatsoever
