Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
Re: Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
December is far too soon. Whyte needs to rebuilt and focus on improving his stamina. There is nothing to suggest Whyte has improved from his first shot other than him insisting he is injury free (something he also said before his first shot).
Whyte needs to beat at least one genuine top 15 opponent before AJs team would even consider facing him again.

He was only 45% last time? What utter garbage. I'd like to see them do it again though. Enjoyed the first fight a lot.

Agreed, December is way too soon. Whyte needs a couple wins and at least one good one before a rematch makes any sense at all.
Re: Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
Agree. I hate it when they make BS statements like that. 45%? but I also enjoyed it and would like to see it again. I would still only have it 60-40 in AJ favour going in.Stuarty30 wrote:He was only 45% last time? What utter garbage. I'd like to see them do it again though. Enjoyed the first fight a lot.

If he can just beat one fringe world level guy then it would be enough to justify it for me.johnswan1 wrote:December is far too soon. Whyte needs to rebuilt and focus on improving his stamina. It isn't asking for much is it?

According to hearn on the latest IFL interview then yes, he says its a possibility for the future if whyte gets in the right position for it.
I'd love to see it again personally, much better than knock over jobs like martin

I like Whyte a lot. Look forward to him rebuilding with a couple of wins and getting another shot at a title of some sort (European?)
He gave Joshua his best test to date and wobbled him at one point but realistically only won 1 round and ended up getting stopped quite brutally.
If earns it? Yes.
If they're just trying to milk it because they want to put the 'personal rivalry' spin on it again? No.

I don't see Whyte reaching the level where he will be highly ranked enough or deserving of a title shot.
But when did that ever matter
If it can be sold to the masses for enough and Joshua has no better paying, low risk options in front of him it will be made and it will be hyped as the big grudge match

Would you fancy the likes of Glazkov and Chagaev against Whyte?davie wrote:I don't see Whyte reaching the level where he will be highly ranked enough or deserving of a title shot.

they are good fights that will show us what level he belongs at .Horse wrote:Would you fancy the likes of Glazkov and Chagaev against Whyte?davie wrote:I don't see Whyte reaching the level where he will be highly ranked enough or deserving of a title shot.

IBF & WBA Regular all-British title unification PPV.rd350lc wrote:they are good fights that will show us what level he belongs at .
Trying to get that WBA Regular title around Whyte's waist has got to be an appealing notion for Hearn and if Chagaev won then he could be next for Joshua.

I don't think Whyte is up to much.
Of course the like of Glaskov and Chagaev are not world class either and should not be fighting for or holding "titles"
Hence the statement "But when did that ever matter" in my original post
Of course in the murky world of boxing, I've no doubt that Hearn, if he thought it was a worthwhile venture to set up Whyte vs AJ 2, might be able to set up a Whyte vs Chagaev in the next year for an ordinary title or, if there was a situation like the recent IBF debacle raised it's head again soon, that he could position Whyte into a Charles Martin position to fight a Glazkov type opponent
He might be capable of getting a result in one of those types of fight. you never know
Such is the world of boxing as we know it
Re: Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
I LOVE Dillian Whyte.
I grew up in South London & he reminds me of blokes I knew as a kid (now I am a tubby middle aged Yank with people asking me what part of Australia I am from
)
I don't care if he fights Joshua again. I just want him to have a great career. I LOVE listening to him. He described Chisora (I like Chisora's spirit too) as a Number 59 Bus - "Sometimes OK & sometimes full of smelly people"

I think he should raise his ranks a bit before they fight again. I do think he has the skills to become a top 5 heavyweight.

If he starts fighting and winning, why not?
There isn't much depth in the heavyweight division these days, three good wins and it is viable.

True. When turnips like Charles Martin are picking up titles it's open season for anyone half decent.Fat Git wrote:If he starts fighting and winning, why not?

When he's won a few a rematch would make financial sense down the line.
I'd like to see Whyte fight for the British again.
Also if chasing a rematch it's not a bad idea to beat your nemesis old foes.
Cornish or Martin wouldn't be bad fights for Whyte.

Re: Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
Yes, he inevitably will get a rematch if he can string a few wins together upon his return. The sky hype and the hate between both men even though AJ at times seemed unwilling to engage the mask was beginning to slip as he began to bite, this coupled with a world title fight would be the gospel of casual central and sells out a stadium here in the UK. Hearn will see the pound signs if AJ hasn't dropped him by then and goes into self promotion like Haye.

No way Whyte gets a rematch unless he puts himself in position to by becoming a contender.
Joshua now has bigger fish to try, why take a risk taking on someone who actually hurt him, when he came make more money elsewhere.
Whyte needs to focus on his own career, he's not talking his way into a rematch.

I'd imagine he'd get iced even easier second time around. Joshua would be more cautious and would bust him up at range before lowering the boom and knocking him out.Webbo911 wrote:I like Whyte a lot. Agreed from another South Londoner. You can't beat a Whyte interview he says it how he sees it no question.
I think in that one where he talked about the 59 bus
Re: Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
I think Eddie will get him an international bauble against a Scott/Chisora type opponent which will set up the rematch 2 or 3 fights down the line before they move AJ up in class.jamesmcdonnell wrote:No way Whyte gets a rematch unless he puts himself in position to by becoming a contender.

They might take him in 3-4 fights as a soft defence, if Joshua is looking like he's come on a long way since their first fight and Whyte hasn't progressed at all.Coco wrote:I think Eddie will get him an international bauble against a Scott/Chisora type opponent which will set up the rematch 2 or 3 fights down the line before they move AJ up in class.jamesmcdonnell wrote:No way Whyte gets a rematch unless he puts himself in position to by becoming a contender.

Re: Is Dillian Whyte Likely To Ever Get A Rematch Vs Joshua??
I don't buy the shoulder injury and while Whyte did hurt him, it was the wake up call Joshua needed, essentially he controlled the whole fight and won in style while learning some valuable lessons.
I don't think Eddie will lose sleep over a rematch and it will be easy to sell while giving Whyte chump change.
