Callum Smith v George Groves

Post by expe »

Been ordered by the EBU today, Sauerland/Groves have accepted the mandatory position.

Great great fight.

I favour Smith by stoppage.

Will Smith not just vacate? Is he not now in a mandatory position? Would be a bit silly to risk that against Groves. If he manages to beat Jack and Groves were to beat someone like Murray then it's a much bigger fight later in the year or early next year.

Great fight. Could be Callums first dip into PPV if the fight goes ahead :brick:

I don't really know why Callum would take this if he is next in line for a World title shot. Can't see Eddie accepting it.

No way is Eddie daft enough to put Callum in with Groves. Far easier for him to get the world title shot and then rebuild if he doesn't beat Jack/Bute.

Groves is VERY high risk with little reward for Callum, and would dominate with the jab IMO. Groves lateral movement is far, far superior to anyone Callum has faced so far, and Groves did a far better job on Rebrasse than Smith did, throwing nearly 100 punches a round.

Would be a good fight but, why would Smith accept since he's mando for Jack (who he will beat)?

No chance it happens , Callum is mandatory for a world title he will sit on that

Got a feeling Groves Vs Murray on the Bellew card? It needs a fight like that to sell Goodison and Martin has massive support and is only 10 miles away!

Whatever happened to the notion and belief that if you were really the best, you may as well fight anyone and everyone as you cannot trip up?

What a load of bollox. Just fight him and beat him if you are that good

Hope it happens. Big fan of Callum and think he wins this. But from the recent IFL interviews Hearn seems more keen on Groves vs Murray.

Where have you seen this?

Can't see it happening myself. How many chances does Groves want of trying to get back to the top?

Let Smith go on and win the World title and let Murray and Groves go at it (would love to see that).

Hope Smith takes the fight and ends the argument. It would be a great scalp for him.

I think Smith wins the fight but it won't happen. Groves will still be there after his world title shot.

Gallagher has used Groves' name for the past year to boost Smith's profile. Now the fight can be made he'll stop using it.
