I'm not doubting the rules or your knowledge of them but in a real time situation I doubt it's as easy as it sounds,

how long after the count did Archie Moore throw that vicious uppercut at 7:47 of the clip?
(I counted just seven seconds between the time that the Rock immediately hit the canvas and
when the Rock got back up and swerved away from that punch)

Is it Moores fault it did not land or did it not land because Rocky Marciano bended away from it at an angle to avoid it?

just seven seconds elapsed after Marciano hit the canvas and Moore threw that big uppercut at him, even with the "interferance by the referre".

Sounds a little like Archie Moore expected to just stand over Marciano immediately after he was knocked down
while he was getting up ,sort of like Jack Dempsey had done to Jess Willard back in 1919?

BTW Who was physically the largest light-heavyweight champion ?
Was it Archie Moore with his 16 and one-half inch biceps?
I think his 'walking around" weight around that time was like 220 lbs.
Did he starve himself to fight at a lower weight class
so he could be sure he became a champion?
(were a lot of his oppnents pretty much bulked up middeleweights?

BTW "Starve himself" was a poor choice of words to say how Archie Moore usually dropped
pounds before a fight.
Laxatives and saunas were more up his alley from what ive read.

just for compartive purposes(as far as newspapers tales of the tapes)
heavyweights champions
Joe Louis(in the late 1930's) had a 76 in reach with 14 inch biceps and 12.5 in forearms
Jersey Joe Walcott had 74 in reach with 16 inch biceps and 13 inch forearm.
and
Rocky Marciano had a 67 in reach with 14 inch biceps and 12 in. forearm
compared with
Archie Moores 73.5 reach and 16.5 inch biceps and either 12.5 forearms.

Archie Moore was pretty much the same size as Jersey Joe Walcott.
(except Walcott had only 16 in. biceps and Moore had 16.5 inch biceps.)

Guess what?
I counted only 5 seconds from the time Marciano hit the canvas
to when the ref actually waved the fighters in to continue
and it was the Rock that walked toward Moore first!
The claim is so obvious bogus.
Did Archie Moore want the ref to stand behind the Rock and wrap his arms around him so
Moore could get a better shot ot somethin'?

Getting back to the topic of conversation.
It was still only 5 seconds elapse between the time the Rock hit the deck and when the referee waved the fighters on
to continue (count them yourself)
There was no 'interferance" by the referee to save Marciano from a sure-fire knockout.

What I wanna know is did Archie Moore ever complain about the referee (Jack Sharkey) taking his sweet olde time counting on him
when he was on the canvas against Yvonne Durelle in their first fight ?
(I dont think so).

Apparently Archie's reach shrank about 3 inches from September of 1955 to July of 1956!
Then they grew back a little by December of 1958.

Ironically he grew an inch in height from September of 1955 to July of 1956. :D

Starting to lose faith in the tale of the tapes.

maybe someone was afraid to get too close with a tape measure before a fight.

defenses with his right hand.
Hey HH in your punch count of Marciano vrs Moore,of the approx.691 punches landed by
Marciano in nine rounds,
how many of those 691 punches were right hands that Marciano landed in the fight?
That was 691 punches THROWN IN TOTAL over nine rounds. I can only guess a percentage on how many landed, because that is just too much additional work. Maybe one day soon I will do a recap of Moore/Marciano with stats of just how many punches landed. One thing I can say about Marciano is that though he threw the right hand alot, he never threw one punch at a time it was always punches in bunches. So if he landed a right, he probably landed the left too. I would say of those 691 punches a good 70% of them landed, because after the third round the tide began to turn and Moore was becoming more defensive and trying to survive rather than fight back.
691 punches, huh? 70% landing?

I thought this was supposed to be a guy with insane, one shot knockout power?

All I can say is FEEL FREE to count the punches yourself in that fight. It sounds incredible, hard to believe, but in those nine rounds Marciano nearly threw 700 punches. A great deal of those were power punches, and a great deal of them landed. Don't take my own word for it, do the counting yourself. As of YET I have seen nobody wanting to combat the number of punches throw tally that I have put out. Why? Maybe cus of laziness. Or maybe cus nobody wants to see that I am right.
