HUGE UPSET last night at Korakuen Hall:

Some of you may remember Matsumoto for his gutsy effort against Berridge in New Zealand
in 2013:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6-YtbUI7VM
Having been stopped twice previously in OPBF title matches by former world title challenger
and current IBF #12 Super Middle Yuzo Kiyota, nobody, and I mean NOBODY expected Matsumoto
to win this. Always nice to see the underdog come out on top once in a while.
Matsumoto vs. Zac Dunn could be interesting...
Anyway, Congratulations to Matsumoto!
Matsumoto Defeats Kiyota!

Fanatastic win for Matsumoto. He showed plenty of guts against Berridge.
Hopefully gets a big fight or 2 off the back of this win.

Yes, should be interesting to see where both fighters go from here.
Apparently Kiyota hinted at retirement.

Was surprised when Kiyota got his world title fight!
Sent Bostic over to fight him for OPBF Light-Heavyweight title and he stopped him in 1 round.

Been trying to find footage of that bout for a long time.
I think I saw it once on Youtube, but apparently it's been removed.
Do you know where we can see video of that fight?
Re: Matsumoto Defeats Kiyota!
Talking about Robert Berridge, what's he up to these days? Looked to have some potential but perhaps was pushed to hard by duco? His trainers/crew etc always looked a bit a amateur to my untrained eye

Think this was a bigger upset than Nishida stopping Shibata at 160?

Overall, no question. Nishida gave Shibata a very tough fight in 2014, so not really surprisedBoxing Prospect wrote:Think this was a bigger upset than Nishida stopping Shibata at 160?
he pulled off the win the second time around.
No doubt though that Nishida's KO of Shibata made for a dramatic ending!
