I for one would turn to jelly, and hopefully melt away never to be seen again, hence I have a huge respect for ALL boxers who fight for our entertainment. I might not like a large number of them (geroge groves being my particular beef) but, I still have respect for them.

This could have been a great debate about why fights are not made, or who's fault it is that fights are not made, with possibly some new insight, rather than a good excuse to have a pop at professional sportsmen/women.

Let's just be clear: they don't fight for our entertainment. Top fighters get into the ring for a very good money. They risk their health and sometimes life for money. That risk is the main difference between a professional fighter and let's say an engineer. Fighters volunteer to take that risk for money but some are more honest in that "contract" than others.

If the public don't pay to watch boxing the boxers don't get paid. So it can be said they box for money, but the money is there as a result of the public paying money to be entertained.
