Re: Boxrec Ratings - Read first before commenting on the ratings

Post by ImranSarwar »

How is it, "points" a.t. I'm given various reviews at different times??????? And, is their a permanent record of "changes"? John Wilkinson 1855 have seen '1' point, '2 points', '3 points' at various times off of the fifth line. Listed for Supermiddleweight [I'm true -w- boxer..but, yes, boxed the hvy]
I'll like to say two more things here. Other than, I >DO NOT< understand in least HOW the ratings are compiled. I "compliment" the institution of BoxRec* for the sheer VASTNESS of their work [hire the About.com boxing man!][buy up DD chains and McDonald's restaurants but..lets.."conference!".......][<<< "dreams!"
: )] -BUT- "seem the human touch missing". I will site TWO "samples", that do NOT make sense. [I've projected these two often already!] aa. How is it BILLY BACKUS rated a.t. 50 slots above MARLON STARLING? That is a "JOKE". bb. FLOYD PATTERSON RATED SO HIGHLY a.t. @HVY.wt. HOW?
Floyd Patterson ERA was UNIQUE. But....he may of been able to win vs Marciano. "Maybe"! BUT, that is hypothetical reasoning OF COURSE!
Floyd Patterson rated above GEORGE FOREMAN? That is IMPOSSIBLE!
O.K., last: I like to use ERNIE SHAVERS, RON LYLE, KEN NORTON against each other a.t. 1-2-3 per a rating. Some gents like to PLAY THAT HERE? Their is only one RIGHT ANSWER. [That's why I LIKE this group. Nice test to Seperate the Real Estate agents from the true boxing people]

Juan Manuel Marquez is inactive, but in detail the ratings waits to change it until 2 year after his last bout.

Might be inactive boxers want to be stay active actually and thry want to be rated at their last weight division.

I looked into it - this is a bug in the new program release v27.

I fixed it and a corrected release v27a will be launched.

The tables only list boxers with their years, when they were in the top 10 of their annual best performance division.

But ... I guess, I should have a look into it - looks strange ...
