So that's GB with 8 boxers qualified for Rio, that is a superb days boxing by all involved.

Gold for Ali, he's got great potential for a 19 year old.

How many brits are allowed to qualify... we are up to 9 as things stand i believe.
Is it just 1 per weight division allowed ?

1 per weight, very surprised we got as many through as we've done, although a lot of the stronger nations had already got a good number of fighters through, whereas we had none going into this.Looking On wrote:How many brits are allowed to qualify... we are up to 9 as things stand i believe.

We have a fantastic system. One of the best in the world. It's recently produced a heavyweight pro world champ. No other national amateur set up can boast that.expe wrote:1 per weight, very surprised we got as many through as we've done, although a lot of the stronger nations had already got a good number of fighters through, whereas we had none going into this.Looking On wrote:How many brits are allowed to qualify... we are up to 9 as things stand i believe.

Just not been impressed by many of the fighters on the GB squad at the moment, a lot of them have looked average. Some of the selections have been baffling but it looks like they've got it together in the last 6 months or so.mickey1975 wrote:We have a fantastic system. One of the best in the world. To be fair to the GB team, it is a remarkable performance. 9 boxers qualified is fantastic. A bit disappointing on a women side but I am sure they will qualify at the next event.
It will be a tricky to get the last two slots but there's opportunities left through WSB (the most difficult route) and one last tournament. It's possible but not easy.
