Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
If he pulled off that double, well damn I am unsure how he would be rated but christ, it would be ATG and HOF worthy surely
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
If Khan gets past Canelo he'll vacate. Can't see him fighting GGG. It'll be interesting to see what Canelo does if he wins. It doesn't look as if he fancies the Golovkin fight but after his and Oscars comments about vacating titles recently they are going to have to take the fight or they'll look a bit silly and hypocritical.

Glad to see this!!

Something tells me Canelo is a lot more ballsy than the folks around him. Not really sure who's actually steering the ship.Stuarty30 wrote:If Khan gets past Canelo he'll vacate. Whatever happens it should be 160lb or nothing

If Khan did fight GGG, and GGG somehow lost to him, that would thoroughly discredit the Kazakh rather than elevate a light-welter who has no business interfering with the middleweight title.
Alas Khan won't fight GGG, and no, he never will be an ATG.

He would be if he beat GGGTuan_Jim wrote:If Khan did fight GGG, and GGG somehow lost to him, that would thoroughly discredit the Kazakh rather than elevate a light-welter who has no business interfering with the middleweight title.

No matter what you say about it discrediting Golovkin, the bottom line here is that would be an astounding achievement if Khan pulled it off
Of course I agree with your final conclusion, we will never know as it will never happen, Khan is ballsy, he hasn't got a death wish.
But you just never know, he might look at it and think "what the hell, no-one gives me a snowball in hell's chance, what do I have to lose?"
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
That's probably what he thought when he took the Canelo fight. It's not a no lose situation but it's . . . understandable.davie wrote:He would be if he beat GGGTuan_Jim wrote:If Khan did fight GGG, and GGG somehow lost to him, that would thoroughly discredit the Kazakh rather than elevate a light-welter who has no business interfering with the middleweight title.

I give him very little chance, but the more credible the performance is, the more leverage he has back down at Welter.
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Ermm, "unifying the WBC title"? Yeah good one WBC.
Khan won't fight GGG, and nor should he, 154 or 147 has some big fights for him.

Is Khan TWO fights away from retirement? Or less??
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Khan will be stopped before the halfway stage by Alvarez. He'll be a lot richer and his reputation will be relatively undamaged due to fighting the bigger man. Where he goes from there depends on who offers the most money.
Money is ALL that matters for Khan. If Matchroom offer enough , he'll fight Brook, if not , he won't . I'm pretty certain he's not interested in legacies or titles. Who can blame him in the long run. I can't even remember what titles he's won, the last fight I saw him in was Petersen. I don't get the hype which surrounds him. He's simply an American based fighter around the 10 sts mark who sometimes wins fights and sometimes loses. Quick , clever boxer whose earned a lot of money. Well done to him , but I don't have a great deal of interest in him.

Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Potentially I suppose. If Canelo KOs him he'll either retire or start angling for the Brook fight. I hope Kell tells him where to go and goes after Garcia, Thurman, Bradley etc...BigDoofus wrote:Is Khan TWO fights away from retirement? Or less??
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Do you not think the Brook fight loses some of its value if Khan gets a lasting against Canelo. If he wins he almost certainly won't fight Brook. If he loses it'll depend on the manner of the defeat.dalcumly wrote:Khan will be stopped before the halfway stage by Alvarez. Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
No way Khan takes on GGG at 160. If he beats Canelo I can see him fighting at light middle.
Be interesting to see if he ever fights at 147 again. I don't think he will and if the Brook fight does materialise I can see it being at 154.

Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Given that no one believes he would take a fight with GGG, let along beating him, I would say that two wins would put him up there with the best of the generation, but not an all time great.
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
He is two fights away from becoming an all time great - Canelo and mayweather if they could tempt him out of retirement.Tuan_Jim wrote:If Khan did fight GGG, and GGG somehow lost to him, that would thoroughly discredit the Kazakh rather than elevate a light-welter who has no business interfering with the middleweight title.

I am also 2 fights away from being a two time great!
We all would be with that resume

Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
If he beat Canelo and GGG back to back, yeah that'd be damn impressive. I doubt he beats either though. He couldn't beat Golovkin if the fight started while Golovkin was taking a nap.

He's two fights away from ATG status in the same way I'm two fvcks away from having fvcked the worlds two most beautiful women.
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Khan's already a British ATG.
With another couple of top wins, he'll just improve his greatness.

Canelo by KO followed by Brook doing the same. Few mill richer, can retire and talk about Floyd ducking him then
Re: Is Khan TWO fights away from being an ATG??
Pretty much everything wrong with the mindset of current boxing fans. Khan would get no credit for beating GGG, absolutely ludicrous!Tuan_Jim wrote:If Khan did fight GGG, and GGG somehow lost to him, that would thoroughly discredit the Kazakh rather than elevate a light-welter who has no business interfering with the middleweight title.

As ludicrous as the idea of Khan beating him in the first place.
