irish Patrick Hyland versus Gary Russell

Post by brilo33 »

patrick Hyland has the chance to become Ireland’s second ever WBC world champion and second ever featherweight champion of the World tonight, following in legends Wayne McCullough and Barry McGuigan’s footsteps respectively.NOT seen a lot of patrick just herd his name , not seen a lot Gary Russell but he is being billed as something special , should be interesting . the last couple of irish hopes have being a bit disappointing, o kane ,lee ,hogan.

Easy win for Russell tonight I'm afraid. Stoppage early to middle rounds.

Pedraza on points mate. Smith had some success mainly when Pedraza switched off. Big lanky awkward dude. Good jab that troubled Smith and won him rounds. Constantly on the move. Hard to pin down or hit clean. Smith touched down in the 9th. Not heavy but caught with an overhand right on the chin. He was actually catching up at that point so the KD couldn't have came at a worse time. Pedraza clear winner on the cards but decent effort by Smith.

Russell KO in the second. Hyland down 3 times. Straightforward win for Russell. Looks a real force. Lightening right hook set things off and Hyland was never allowed to recover.

Utter mismatch. Bit of a joke that Russell Jr can defend against a guy not even in the top 100?

Hyland's padded record makes him the sort of opponent Haye would fight to fool the casuals.
