Decent effort by Smith. Pedraza the clear winner and is an awkward type. Constantly on the move and changing direction, long arms, very hard to hit clean. Can be a bit lazy and switches off. Gave Smith a few rounds and he had bursts of success. He'll have learned more from that fight than he did in his previous 6 or 7 so there are positives to be taken. He can come again and with the right matchmaking and correct timing you never know. Enjoyed the fight.

For a guy, at the time, just 3 fights into his pro-career, Piriyapino, Rodriguez and Koasicha are good opponents. Makes sense for Loma to take a step back from facing world level fighters like Solido and Russell Jr because he struggled against them. They were a step too far for him at this point so he obviously needed to take a step back, get some rounds in and some more experience before stepping up again. If he faced say, Santa Cruz or Cueller after beating Russell Jr I honestly think he'd have lost. It would be too early for him.

He's fighting Martinez next who is a decent opponent. After that, if he doesn't step up and start fighting better opponents again then I'll criticise him. Maybe not Santa Cruz or Selby just yet but someone like Hosono or Vetyeka.

Russell Jr was 26-1 and facing an utter bum who doesn't even crack the top 100. It was a joke. It's idiotic to compare an experienced pro like Russell Jr facing a bum to a relative novice (with excellent amateur pedigree, it's true) facing a bum.

But still, Loma's bums would beat Hyland who is frankly, utter shit. Hyland's best win is over Emmanuel Lucero.

I want to now how someone who is supposedly a boxing fan can justify Russel Jr, 26-1, an experienced pro, a legit world fighter defending against Hyland (ranked #130 in the world)?

There's a big difference between the amateurs and the pros. As Loma found out when he lost to Salido who, in the amateurs he would more than likely comfortably beat.

I wouldn't. I'd criticise any world level fighter going against Hyland who isn't even British level. I'd criticise any prospect for that matter like Josh Warrington facing Hyland because he's the sort of padded-record joke who Haye hand-picks. A featherweight Mark De Mori.

Hosono looks about done, Mr Ohashi keeps talking about getting him another world title fight but he's struggled with Fukuhara, Watanabe and Shimoda in recent bouts.
