Liam Williams v Ahmet Patterson?

Post by scotthammer »

Has been ordered by the board for Liam's British Title, good fight!

Both ranked in top 15 with the WBO as well.

Wouldn't like to call it though!

Very good fight & easy to make too. Can't look beyond Williams power IMO.

Good fight. Proper British title fight. Behind Liam Smith there are these two plus Gary Corcoran, very interesting domestically.

Really good fight. Williams looked class against Carslaw who i know for certain is a tough boy and Patterson has been impressing more with every outing. Nice blend of styles, as someone said above its easy to make. Get it on.

Does Patterson have better wins than Corcoran?

I would of thought Corcoran would be head of the pack and more likely to get made mandatory after his last three wins.

Why not order an eliminator?

Pretty similar opposition. Both have looked the part recently. Would be a good fight in its own right these two. Good mix of fights if you involve Williams. You would need to fancy whoever came out on top to go on and at least challenge for a world strap.

I think Gary Corcoran's last 3 wins have been significantly better than Patterson's.

Not sure who i'd pick in a head to head but think Corcoran's got a legit argument that he's been over looked.

Maybe the board looked at Frank's comments about matching him with the winner of Williams vs Mansouri?

Hope he gets the straight shot now that's been called off and the winner can fight Patterson in the mandatory.

Interesting times.

Corcoran's had 3 good wins on the bounce, better wins than either Williams or Patterson have got, the Carslaw win was impressive but has flattered Williams a touch, stopping Kris with a jab was a freak shot never to be repeated! Patterson looked good against Aston, good win, needs a win against someone who's going to stand up to him imo. What this fight does is tell us who is the real deal between Williams & Patterson, maybe they both are, probably are if previous is a barometer but this way we find out for sure. Corcoran's had a couple of tests, been hit back, come thru well. Interesting times over the next few months for sure. :box:

Williams-Patterson is next, purse bids are next month although they won't be needed. I'd guess that Corcoran will defend his WBO IC title once or twice then fight the winner, Williams and Patterson are ranked by the WBO and Corcoran will enter the rankings next month so it seems they're looking to match the winner of those fights with Smith.

If Williams beats Patterson and then Corcoran back to back, he deserves the Smith fight and is probably ready for it.

Exciting times in the light middleweight division and great to have domestic rivalry, for the coveted Lonsdale belt.
One thing for sure Corcoran Williams and Patterson are all a much better standard of opposition than Liam Smith has had to face recently for his WBO belt, that's not taking anything away from Liam Smith who I rate but he needs a decent test and it would be great to think as they all have the same promoter , that one of the aforementioned could get a crack at the WBO title

Cracking fight. I'm not convinced Patterson is as effective at light middle, but if he can beat Liam Williams...then he clearly is.

Excellent match up and just hope styles gel because it should be a belter :box:

I'd pick Patterson on points but I know I could be wrong, that's why I'll be watching it for sure if it comes off.

Great fight.

For me Corcoran and Patterson are British level fighters. I see Williams as Potential euro level and expect him to beat both.

I'd just give Smith the edge over him at the minute.

Shaping up to be quite a good division domestically and all are with the same promoter so any future fights with them should be easy enough to make in theory. It's a pity Williams picked up that injury that kept him out a while. Hopefully he can kick on and get a few more fights this year. I agree with you I'd put him above British level but it wouldn't harm him getting a couple more defences since he's had that lay off. Great for the fans too.

Patterson was excellent in his last fight against a good lad and i see him being even better with someone like Williams coming at him. Patterson will go above British level very soon.

Same could be said for Williams. Really good fight. The winner will go on to bigger things and the loser will come again.
