Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
It seems like Loma is moving up to challenge WBO 130 pound champ Rocky Martinez. It's obviously no Walters-Loma, but Martinez is top 10, the bigger man, and an entertaining fighter with comparable attributes to and a win over Loma's only pro conqueror Salido.
Is Loma seasoned enough now to handily deal with a bigger, physical opponent like Martinez?

Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
I am just glad to see Loma in with a top 10 fighter at 130 pounds. Curious to see how Loma does at 130 as I feel 126 is his best weight, but Loma one of my favorite stories in boxing so good to see his career back on the road again.

Interesting they moved Lomo up to give Valdez his belt
Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
What happened to Walters vs. Loma??
Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
Wow I like how they said Fortuna or Martinez, knowing damn well they weren't going to fight Fortuna.
LOL I knew the Duck Loma would fight Martinez. Martinez looked absolutely SHOT last time out against Siri, what a punk move off Lomachenko.
NO ONE is interested in this BS fight. Walters would have absolutely Decapitated hi-tech in 4 rounds anyways. Makes sense Loma went hiding

Are we meant to be excited by his sad little move up to super featherweight?
Pathetic!
I can't stand this hypejob clown.

Walters wanted too much money. Loma even offered him $300k if Walters beats him, but it wasn't enough.Lancenix wrote:What happened to Walters vs. Loma??

Which realistic matches would you prefer?Horse wrote:Are we meant to be excited by his sad little move up to super featherweight?

Loma does nothing and still gets hyped to the hills.
Screw this clown.

Are featherweight unifications unrealistic?crusader wrote:Which realistic matches would you prefer?
No, they are bloody well not!
Lies, lies, lies, to suggest otherwise!
Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
Lies are coming from your mouth. Loma would take any unification fight. Walters moved up to avoid Loma and refused to fight even at 130. Selby and LSC are hiding.Horse wrote:Are featherweight unifications unrealistic?crusader wrote:Which realistic matches would you prefer?

Yeah, sure.ikorolev wrote:Lies are coming from your mouth. Loma would take any unification fight. Walters moved up to avoid Loma and refused to fight even at 130. Selby and LSC are hiding.
Loma's career is going to be one long bore.
Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
Rigo called him out , loma said lets make this fight happen, then rigo says no, Walters prices himself out of the market, what else can he do, offer some intelligent realistic choices horse, his skill level is amazing, controls a fight to extraordinary levels, an absolute pleasure to watch, explain to us what you don't like about him, I can see anything not to like from a boxing perspective

Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
Loma is one of the most exciting, unique and talented boxers to come along in years along the lines of Roy Jones. His problem is his promoter doesn't have access to the best talent at 126 Loma's best weight, Al Haymon Arum's rival controls these fighters so after what ever has happened with Rigo and Walters Loma must move up to 130 and look for fights at that weight, even though not his best weight I suspect Lomachenko will succeed at 130. Loma will have to ramp up his game as he already was not a heavy hitter at 126 but had decent power, what will happen in that regard now he will be fighting bigger me we will see.Pureist wrote:Rigo called him out , loma said lets make this fight happen, then rigo says no, Walters prices himself out of the market, what else can he do, offer some intelligent realistic choices horse, his skill level is amazing, controls a fight to extraordinary levels, an absolute pleasure to watch, explain to us what you don't like about him, I can see anything not to like from a boxing perspective
Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
Okay, so which realistic matches would you prefer? Walters was offered a career high purse and an extra $300k if he won, but he turned it down, and Selby/LSC/Russell/Cuellar are with Haymon, not to mention that Loma already clearly beat Russell when they were ordered to fight each other.Horse wrote:Are featherweight unifications unrealistic?crusader wrote:Which realistic matches would you prefer?

Martinez isn't a great opponent but I don't think he's a bad one either.

He controls fights to extraordinary levels against overmatched chumps.Pureist wrote:Rigo called him out , loma said lets make this fight happen, then rigo says no, Walters prices himself out of the market, what else can he do, offer some intelligent realistic choices horse, his skill level is amazing, controls a fight to extraordinary levels, an absolute pleasure to watch, explain to us what you don't like about him, I can see anything not to like from a boxing perspective
Last three opponents:
Romulo Koasicha - Ranked 71st
Gamalier Rodriguez - Ranked 198th
Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo - Ranked 38th
His win against Gary Russell Jr was almost 2 years ago and he's done nothing of interest since then. I very much doubt that every half decent opponent was running for the hills.

When has a winning bonus ever been put into a fight contract?crusader wrote:Okay, so which realistic matches would you prefer? Walters was offered a career high purse and an extra $300k if he won,
Why not offer him 50%?

Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
It's no-one's idea of a dream match up but for a guy who has had all of two significant fights (and lost one) to be taking on a more-or-less top five at the weight guy is fine by me. So long as it happens fairly soon anyway. Martinez has shown himself to be pretty much just as good as Salido (probably lucky to get the draw the second time) though he has a bit more of a straightforward style.
I imagine Loma was more keen on a Salido rematch and ended up going for the next best thing instead. I hear Salido is fighting Francisco Vargas next - hell of a match if that happens.

Re: Loma vs Rocky Martinez on June 11
So again we will ask for the 3rd time, who do you want him to fight, you said he's hyped up, tell me someone else who has his skills, someone who has entered the pro ranks tagged as the best amateur ever, someone with a 400/1 amateur record, why wouldn't he be hyped, those answers would be good horseHorse wrote:He controls fights to extraordinary levels against overmatched chumps.Pureist wrote:Rigo called him out , loma said lets make this fight happen, then rigo says no, Walters prices himself out of the market, what else can he do, offer some intelligent realistic choices horse, his skill level is amazing, controls a fight to extraordinary levels, an absolute pleasure to watch, explain to us what you don't like about him, I can see anything not to like from a boxing perspective

Whoda thought Horse would have made such a strong defence of Lomas matchmaking

Yes, sadly he is a big step up from recent opposition, much like Malignaggi would be a big step up for Brook.davie wrote:Looks like Rocky is a big step up for him then

Don't expect me to dance over a rainbow for either of those fights though.
