Stiverne is probably the best next opponent for Joshua.

Ex-WBC champion, went the distance with Wilder, best opponent to date and not too much of a step up.

I've recently said that Duhaupas would be a good next opponent for Joshua, but I don't think the risk vs reward ratio is great with that fight.

If it really becomes another American guy, then I probably won't watch the fight. There is no American out there who can make it to the fifth round, so why fight them? I can only think out one reason and that's to embarrass them...

That would be no risk no reward except for free cash and a lot of time.

Stiverne - he isn't great, but he's tough & has a 'name'.

He should, in theory, extend Joshua, but it wouldn't surprise me if Joshua flattened him, as AJ does seem to possess bone crunching power.

People who can give Joshua a good fight is a very short list indeed. Perhaps nonexistent. Wlad is aging and Fury is eating himself into retirement. I'd favor Joshua over Wilder, but Deontay is the only American I can think of with even a small chance of beating him.

What Eastern Europeans could beat AJ? I can't think of one outside of the before mentioned.

AJ and Fury are the top of the world, no doubt about that. Klitschko is probably the only guy from Eastern Europe who has a chance against him. Somehow Sherman Williams or Wach might have a chance to take him into the later rounds.

Wach and Sherman Williams have that Tex Cobb and even Chauncey Welliver ability to hang in there and go rounds. Hope I haven't reawakened Welliver's fan. :stop:

I dont remember much about Breazeale, but looking at his record he doesnt look bad, its certainly much better then Martins.

Stiverne is a solid 1st defense.

What I really hope that it is not Molina. That would be big let down. Dreadful opponent for a world title holder.

No, I think he should fight the winner of Parker Takam, since it's his mandatory anyway. He shouldn't be another timewaster like Wilder for example. After that he can focus on uniting belts, so win against that Australion who got caught on some kind of illegal substance, or his opponend from eastern Europe, whoever got the belt. Then maybe Ortiz, because he deserves a shot and then unite all the belts with Fury.

Breazeale has a lot of heart, not much else. I'd prefer it over the rest of them, but he'll get waxed.

Stiverne is the best choice.

Breazeale would be okay in my opinion.

Molina is a clubfighter and not acceptable (beating a shot old Adamek means nothing).

HBO or Showtime want to sign him and will want an American opponent. Stiverne would give him rounds which he needs considering he's only had about 40 in his pro career. There is talk of unifying against Fury at the end of the year in a stadium in Wales (if Fury beats Wlad).

I think Martin is better than Breazeale to be honest.

Martin and Breazeale are probably on the similar level, though like lefty I suspect that Martin is a little better.

I was looking forward to their fight, which was far more evenly matched than either of them against AJ.

Just looking at the record doesn't show that he struggled significantly with Kassi (a draw IMO)and Mansour (I had it 49-44 Mansour, though the tide was turning). Breazeale is notably slow, fairly easy to hit, and looks rather clumsy to me, though he did show heart in coming back to win his last fight and I'd still prefer him to Molina.

Breazeale would certainly give more of an effort than Martin did, but he'll end up in the same place.

Ducking Ortiz, I see.

Really, Molina? That's the guy AJ will probably go for since he's the easiest defence of the 3. Surprised Malik Scott hasn't made the shortlist too. They're all poor opponents. The quicker AJ gets sparked the better.

That's a very colorful way of saying that he's the best heavyweight in the world and he has more than a decade left on his career.

No, you don't see. Ortiz is tied-up in an elaborate WBA tournament. Ortiz won't be taking any fights outside the context of the WBA tournament for about 12-18 months. Joshua isn't ducking Ortiz, because Ortiz was never on the table. Not to mention that Ortiz is not even ranked by the IBF, so he would be a pretty unlikely contender to make a sanctioned defense against. Ortiz isn't even recognized by the IBF as the WBA champion, Fury is, so I'm skeptical that they would even make a unification exception for Ortiz.

Brezeale robbed kassi
And was dropped heavy by mansour losing 50-45 before mansour quit for a broken jaw

Pretty much how I see it.

I predicted Breazeale last week. It's borderline acceptable for a first defence for an inexperienced "champion"
Butbonly just.

I think Stiverne would be a good choice, a solid test and a good yard stick against the likes of Wilder
