Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
Guys this fight interest's me and I have watched what I can find of Tennyson but thats very little to be honest and I obviously can see from his record he can punch, however clearly can be hurt as well judging by that very strange stoppage loss on his record. Reason for asking is I am just curious to hear from those that have seen him, what you think of him?
He is actually favourite over Walsh with the only bookmaker with prices and that just seems strange from what he has faced so far.
Tennyson 8/13
Walsh 5/4
Paddy Power, now I know they are an Irish bookmaker and perhaps they expect more money for the Irish fighter but on who he has fought and that blip on his record, I am surprised that Walsh is not a tidy favourite here, however, with so little out there other than knockovers against Journeyman it's difficult to see really, Tennyson can clearly box as well as punch and put's his shots together well on the couple of fights I have seen.
Walsh performed well enough against Selby to expect he would only lose his British belt to a very promising fighter, is Tennyson that fighter?

tennyson hits very hard for hi his weight. i can see ko for him
Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
Got to favour Walsh, Tennyson might be a good prospect but I don't think he hits anywhere near as hard as his record suggests, heavily padded against Eastern Europeans that get stopped regularly. Think class and experience will tell and Walsh will stop him late on.
Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
He hits very hard.. Ronnie Raves about Tennyson was in sparring him last month and has also shared the ring with Ryan Walsh. James is a very live opponent here. In my opinion this is a little bit early.. Ryan is really good technically. He can take a shot and adapt to different styles.. I'm going for Walsh late stoppageexpe wrote:Got to favour Walsh, Tennyson might be a good prospect but I don't think he hits anywhere near as hard as his record suggests, heavily padded against Eastern Europeans that get stopped regularly. Not saying he can't punch but I think 13 KOs in 16 wins flatters him given the opposition.daviddee wrote:He hits very hard.. Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
Hearing about his stoppage defeat the corner man through the towel in, he got caught and his trainer didn't believe he had the expierienxe to ride the storm and felt he would come again, a lesson learned. I have watched a lot of Tennyson fights through his Facebook page etc and he seems to have matured regarding his body condition over past 12 months. Always had a dig and as David said Ronnie spoke most nights after their sparring and said he's heavy handed. Also said his chin wasn't suspect as he would catch him with shots also. Fit young boy hungry and looking to upset Ryan Walsh, if you were to want my last tenner though for me I would take Walsh. Think he's very under rated. He adapts well and think he is just improving every fight. Amazing fight though and no matter what the outcome is both will come again.

Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
Nothing ive seen from Tennyson makes me think he can beat Walsh. Ive paid interest in the division for a while due to knowing Leigh Wood well, and while i think leigh beats both i see Walsh as a bigger, tougher fight for Leigh than Tennyson is. Leigh is mandatory to the winner i believe, so will be interesting regardless.
Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
I've seen Tennyson a few times and although the argument can be made that his record is padded as it is with most prospects at this stage of their career who get their first real challenge at British title level. What I will say is that it promises to be a very exciting fight between to very good fighters with ambitions of progressing beyond the British title, Warren obviously feels the same way about Tennyson after signing him up recently. From what I have seen of Walsh which isn't an awful lot has impressed me, especially last time out against Traynor. My prediction for this fight will be a barnstormer, all action from start to end and maybe a few knock downs along the way before Tennyson prevailing with a points victory.GlobalBox wrote:Guys this fight interest's me and I have watched what I can find of Tennyson but thats very little to be honest and I obviously can see from his record he can punch, however clearly can be hurt as well judging by that very strange stoppage loss on his record. Enjoy the fight, one not to be missed as with most British title fights!

Leigh has no chance against either... These boys are too big and took powerful.. Leigh starts well but against McDonnell he was bullied buy a smaller guy than these 2Looking On wrote:Nothing ive seen from Tennyson makes me think he can beat Walsh. Leigh was drained in that, first time he had actually boxed at the Super bantamweight limit and said himself he knew after 1 round he couldnt do 12, so decided to work a high pace and hope for the best instead, he certainly wasnt bullied, he won every round apart from the round in which it was stopped.
Cant judge that fight as what he is like, especially when for most that is the only time theyve seen him and Leigh is a big lad at the weight too, at least as big as Tennyson is.
You call Tennyson a big puncher but he went distance with Ian Bailey, who Leigh completely took apart and stopped.
Time will tell, over the next few months we shall see for sure, but i expect to see Leigh come out with the Lonsdale ahead of Walsh and Tennyson, Hes the number 3 featherweight in the Britain, i have absolutely no doubt of that. (apart from that ive never seen Isaac Lowe so cant comment on him)

He wasn't bullied he ran out of steam against gav mac. Not saying he beats walsh or tennyson tho.
But I'd b worried as a tennyson fan he struggled with a poor non puncher is senkvos and had to b saved by his corner man. It might have been a bad night at the office but Ryan Walsh is a big step up from who his beat so far.

Isaac lowe isn't bad but nothing sparkling in my opinion English title level think he gets beat on the next step up he's not got no power he's a grinder but the lads in the British title mix at that weight will have a bit too much for him i do agree wood looks strong at this weight though never seen tennyson but I thought Walsh got beat against monuimme

I fancy Walsh big for this fight.
He's improved a awful lot and is close to European level in my opinion.
Tennysons record is padded.
Good fight though.

I agree. Can't see how the bookies have tennyson has a favourite
Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
Ive seen tennyson a couple of times.
before i saw him the 1st time id been told he was on the tall side for a fw. So i was suprised to learn he didnt really utilise his jab as well as i expected. From what iv been told from lads whos sparred him is that theyd been told he waz a hitter but this waznt the case once they were in a ring with him.
I dont think hes quite ready for walsh yet.

Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
Walsh looked good against Traynor apart from a little wobble from a right hand it was all 1 way, probably the best ive seen him actually although Darren isnt as good as Selby,Mouneimne or Clark but still Ryan looked like a champion in the way he went about things
Tennyson on paper looks a banger but there isnt much on his CV,still Walsh will need to be on his toes,he should get a stoppage by the halfway point though

Re: Walsh/Tennyson - British Title views
I've been a Frampton fan from the very early days of his pro career largely because I have some friends from Belfast that are big in to their boxing. Spoke to them about Tennyson and they say he'll be dangerous early but if it goes to middle rounds he won't have the experience to hang in with someone as experienced as Walsh. They say he has raw power though so it could be dangerous if Walsh isn't on song.

damn, paddypower cut walshs odds just as I was going to bet on him. I still chucked him in an accumulator.
I think he wins this fight.
Tennyson looks good teeing off on journeymen who aren't hitting back. When you don't have to worry about counters you can look great. This lad who stopped him had 64 losses and two wins at the time. That's absolutely dismal form. Dismal. Walsh is awkward enough and throws counters when he's under attack so Tennyson is stepping into a different league here and I expect him to struggle. Walsh at 5/4 outright was a good bet but seeing as Tennyson was stopped by such a poor journeyman, I'll be backing Walsh stoppage. One worry is that Walsh was kind of staggered by Traynor but I think his chin is decent enough generally, and he's got good defence usually. Went 12 with Selby who we can all agree hits much harder than Tennyson.
