Carl Frampton Vs Leo Santa Cruz

Post by ocrumley »

It seems like America beckons for 'The Jackal' once again following his I don't care what one judge thought, comprehensive victory over domestic rival Scott Quigg. I can see this fight being the polar opposite of the Quigg fight as LSC will not sit back and allow Carl to move around him put apply constant pressure with his insanely high punch output. This although it makes for an exciting fight I believe it will be his downfall against the Belfast star as this high punch rate leads to a lot of waste which in my opinion will leave him open to be stopped in the later rounds by Carl who will pick up his first world title at featherweight.

I am just interested to hear everyone's opinion on this fight touted for late July!

I think LSC will bully him to a clear decision win.

I'll be rooting for Frampton, but it wouldn't surprise me if Santa Cruz outhustled him and kept pushing him back throughout. He's a good bit taller, and way more active.

Frampton would have some balls to take him on out here, If he did that and beat Cruz legit would be a massive win for him this side of the pond.
Cruz is one of those tough Mexicans who'll bang it out with you ... he doesn't f__k about and has the Mexican core drive about him.
Not sure out of the two if anyone struggles with weight, if that comes into play we have a different fight from the one I'm imagining.

LSC is the most overrated fighter around Frampton easy points win.

look i dnt care wat others say, i dnt think lsc has much power, more of a accumilation of punches for the fifst half of the fight. i think kiko afew years ago would have had him and fuk wat the comentaters say kiko shook him afew times. i see framton winning, but a tight win as unfortunaly i dnt see fram coming out of his shell that much lately. good fight anway, cant blame him 4 not fighting rigo now, im a huge rigo fan, won me loads of money few years back, and im irish so a fram fan aswell, but the carry on of rigos team past few years is rediculous and unprossenionl. just win a couple decent fights in us or uk and it would defo sell. :bag:

Come fight him out here then and stop hiding domestically with relatively soft punching ranked fighters at home. ;-)
Bankrolling the local scene is ok but you don't buy P4P juice off of that, what sells in the UK doesn't necessarily sell out here.

My preliminary thoughts are that Leo will be too big, too strong, too active and too tough for Frampton.

I think Santa Cruz will win by comfortable UD. I hope my prediction will be wrong though.

Frampton is so tough to read. He's looked really really good on occasions & ok on others.

LSC just looks like a machine.

The best Frampton I've seen might beat LSC but I'd go with Cruz on consistency.

Carl hasn't been hiding domestically his last opponents;

Quigg; (English) it was a unification no matter what you want to say about how Quigg acquired the belt, Carl still had to win it. A massive appeal over here with clear American interest.

Alejandro Gonzalez; First fight in America and first fight under Al Haymon after signing an advisory deal with him. Supposedly a walkover opponent to showcase himself on American TV to the Americans, recovered from the two flash knockdowns to win comfortably on points an exciting fight in new conditions, never been but Texas in the day time is very different from Belfast or Manchester ever!

Chris Avalos; First defence of his world title against your boy Avalos. He came over talked the talk like all your guys do (his mother even threw chewing gum at him) but he was duly blasted out even though he claimed to be a tough American!

Kiko Martinez 2; this time for a world title and Carl's first world title fight over a guy who is known for his power event though Carl had stopped him over a year before Kiko had regrouped got the swagger that comes with being world champion after winning the belt away from home and successfully defending it. He has clear power as he showed over here when he shocked everyone stopping Bernard Dunne in a round he can clearly punch..

Before that; Hugo Cazares a former world champ
Jeremy Parodi tough Frenchman for European title
Kiko Martinez 1 a dangerous fight early in his career a big dangerous puncher who had stopped many other names!

That's not fighting domestic level soft punchers is it?
