Povetkin v Wilder

I'm no WIlder fan, but I think he'll win this fairly comfortably.

Povetkin is a very small heavyweight. He looked absolutely tiny next to Tyson Fury & Hughie Fury when they posed in New York recently and Wilder is of similar stature.

I think Wilder will counterpunch again as he did with Stiverne and break Povekin down and KO him late fairly nastily.

Povetkin has tonnes of heart and great technique, but he's a little guy and I honestly don't rate his movement and awkwardness as difficult as Szpilka who made Wilder look novice like for 3 rounds until he adjusted.

I think Povetkin poses a brave, well schooled but not particularly difficult problem for Wilder to solve.

He just needs to make sure to bring his own food and water with him

This is the big test for Wilder. He wins this and he becomes a credible champ and is number 2 heavy on the scene. I'd like to see him win mainly because we know how high Povetkin's ceiling is.
I'm taking Povetkin in this one though, I think it might end early too.

It'd be better for the division if Wilder won - I'd love to see him, Fury and Joshua get stuck into each other - but Wilder has shown vulnerability, even against relatively slow combination punchers (Molina had him wobbled on more than one occasion) and if Povetkin can get inside his jab he could cause a lot of problems.

But Stiverne mostly fought to survive against Wilder. If Bernaine had taken a few chance or just went for it, I'm certain he would have got blitzed.

Yeah he'll need to be patient because Wilder will be desperate to keep the fight at distance and will probably look quite crude getting out the way most of the night. Might be a bit of a slow starter actually. Povetkins going to have to use educated pressure. He's by far the better boxer technically and you'd have to fancy him to find his range at some point. If he gets clipped trying to chase him down recklessly Wilder will just swarm him til the ref steps in.

That's some pic Looks like two halves of different bodies with they legs on that torso. Really looking forward to this one. It might be a bit of a slow burner but it's an intruiging match up. Fury v Wlad wasn't a classic but I couldn't look away. This should be better (hopefully) but it has the same feel to it.

For years I've wanted to see Haye v Povetkin. I think it has the makings of a cracking scrap. Thought it was dead but I'm still carrying a little optimism. Probably won't happen but can always dream!

I haven't looked as forward to an overseas fight (non uk boxers) since Maidana v Broner

Yeah it's very seldom I look forward to a bout minus any UK fighters as much as this. I'm looking forward to Thurman v Porter. Pity it was postponed. Might not be the best fight you'll see but again it's an interesting one. Porter looks impossible to look good against. Looking forward to seeing how it unfolds.

My expectationa are connected to the Parker/Takam fight. If Parker wins that, then a Wilder win wouldn't surprise me any more. If Takam wins, then a Povetkin win wouldn't surprise me any more. At this moment I think Wilder will win by winning most of the later rounds, but this is probably the hardest to predict heavyweight match of the year.
