Not a bad fight before Ward.

Chilemba is currently ranked #7 by The Ring/#8 by PBO/#10 by TBRB, he's a slippery customer, and in his last bout I thought he deserved a win over Alvarez. It would be a good result if Sergey can be the first to stop him.

I can't find Chilemba vs Alvarez video anywhere. Was it a hometown robbery ?

Not a robbery, although the 118-110 card was dreadful and pure hometown stuff. I saw it as a very close fight that could have reasonably been scored either way, but like many others I thought Chilemba did enough to edge it and based on that I don't consider him to be worse than Alvarez.

I think Chilemba is about as good as it realistically gets for a July fight.

he is a solid fighter , remember the bellew fights with him, looked like he might of won the first,it was a draw , then lost the return, likes to soak up punches and suck the energy out of you,he is a big man as well if i remember, wont be able to do that with kovalev,

Yes, I had him winning the first Bellew fight, and from the accounts I've read he was unfortunate not to get a win over Oosthuizen.

Had he recieved stronger promotional support and been the house fighter each time, I think there's a good chance he'd have wins over Alvarez, Bellew, and Oosthuizen.

It is not even in Moscow, but in Ekaterinburg, Kova's home town.

Ekatininburg is Kovalev's hometown Ike? I didn't know that. We are coming up on the 100th anniversary of the massacre of the Romanov family very shortly. I don't know how Russians feel about it but that has certainly got to be one of the most significant moments in Russian history. Though probably not something they want to celebrate. If he's still champion maybe they'll hold a fight on the 100th anniversary in the Urals.

They will hold a 20 minute moment of silence after the national anthems are played that night in memory of the Tishinek massacre.

Braehmer couldn't fight cleverly because the WBA wouldn't sanction him coming off a loss how can this get sanctioned?

Isaac Chilemba is capable of scoring an upset. But Eleider Alvarez would look better in record. Not very good fight but definitely not worst

Kovalev will administer an unhealthy beating on Chilemba. If Bellew can beat the guy, Kovalev will destroy him. He`s never been stopped, but neither had a number of the guys who fought Kovalev (Pascal, Cleverly etc) and he shellacked them.

Why not? Only good thing communist ever done for that country. What does it have to do with boxing though?

Bellew didn't beat the guy. UK judges did.

Has Chilemba ever been down,or even hurt? Can't see him lasting the distance with his style however tough he is.

To my knowledge only down or hurt against then unbeaten Maxim Vlasov, though he recovered very quickly, won the remaining rounds, and took a clear UD. Decent bangers like Alvarez, Bellew, and Miranda didn't seem to hurt him, and there was nothing in the reports I read about Tommy O hurting him.

But ya, Krusher is at another level and should win by stoppage, though with Chilemba's negative style, good defense, and solid chin it may not come quickly.

IMO...I always felt Chilemba's style has a better chance against Stevenson than Kovalev..Chilemba style is more of a Boxer. Stevenson I would consider more of a puncher. Boxer vs. Puncher. Does not mean Chilemba could beat Stevenson either by any means...Kovalev can box and punch.

so I think it's a decent Matchup Kovalev vs. Chilemba..don't see Kovalev blowing Chilemba out.. Kovalev UD 12..

Bellew beat him in the rematch, i think i had Chilemba winning close the first time, iirc.

Either way Chilemba sucks, he is evasive in a kind of clumsy Tyson-Fury kind of way. Kovalev's boxing is underrated, he landed solid shots in most rounds against B-Hop who is 100x trickier and evasive than Chilemba ever could be.

Kovalev inside 5, easy ko.
